Payout failure

I just sold a book on eBay almost 3 months ago. eBay did not payout to my account as my account was not updated. I have spent close to 4 hours over 2 days contacting eBay and managed to update and verify account . They have said issue is resolved. However now after almost 2 weeks the funds are still with eBay and not paid out to me yet. I am tired of spending hours online with them . What to do?

when you say update and verify account, do you mean you actually fully signed up to and were verified for Managed Payments or you just simply 'updated' your actual eBay account?

You should have completed the Managed Payments part before selling, it came in three years ago

What eBay say is simply what the script they have tells them to say

If you have not actually done everything you needed to do for Managed Payments you are not going to get the funds

As well as that, even when the Managed Payments part is all done, you will still be subject to the same 30 hold on funds that all new seller are

I have sold before and have an existing account for 7 years already. eBay asked me to update my account number and I did but still no payout. In my eBay account the funds are classified under “ Available funds”

Updating your account as a seller requires you to sign up for Managed Payments. Did you do so? As in actually providing the information required by eBay to do so.

It is irrelevant how long you have been an eBay member.

It is irrelevant whether or not you have sold on eBay previously.

If you have not been selling regularly - for instance, if the last time you sold was a few months ago or longer, and/or if you’ve not been selling a reasonably regular and consistent amount, then eBay will now consider you a new seller. That means that, even if you’re fully signed up and verified for Managed Payments, your funds will be on hold for at least 21 days.

If you are not yet fully verified for Managed Payments, you’ll never get those funds.

You must verify both your identity and your bank account.

The way to do this is spelled out very clearly in the Registering as a seller help page.

❝Confirming your identity

To sell on eBay, we'll need to confirm your identity at registration. We may also need to confirm your identity at other times.

Individuals will need to provide:

Full name
Address
Date of birth
Details of your government-issued photo identification document (e.g. passport number)

Companies will need to provide:

Individual identification information (as listed above) for your primary contact as well as any other beneficial owners and directors
Legal business name
"Doing Business As" (DBA) name (if you have one)
Australian Business Number (ABN) or Australia Company Number (ACN)
Business address
Phone number

Providing proof of identification

In some cases, we may need you to send us another valid form of identification. We'll send you an email and/or place a banner on your account to let you know what we need, including instructions on how to upload the image.

We accept the following forms of valid identification:

Driver's licence
Passport (current Australian or foreign passport, or an Australian passport expired within the last 2 years)
Other government-issued photo ID

Uploading documents to eBay

When you're uploading documents to eBay, the files you upload must follow eBay's guidelines. You should make sure the names on the documents match the names on your eBay account. Additionally, the files must be:

In JPEG, JPG, PDF or PNG format
Visible from edge to edge, including all four corners – we may not be able to verify your details if the image is blurry or if information is cut off
A maximum file size of 4 MB
In colour❞

Then you must verify your bank account, as explained by eBay.

❝Verifying your banking details

To receive payouts, you'll need to link your bank account to your eBay account. It's important to make sure that the names on both accounts match.

For a personal account, your first name and last name should be the same on your bank account and your eBay account
For a business account, the business name associated with your bank account should be the same as the business name you use to register on eBay
- For example, if the business name on your bank account is "Joe's Hobby Shop", that's the name you should use to register for your eBay business account

It's also important to make sure that your account type on eBay matches your bank account type. For example, if you have a business eBay account, you'll need a business bank account to register as a seller.

To verify your bank account, we'll need:

Name on the bank account
Bank name
BSB number
Account number

Once we verify your information, we'll send you an email to let you know you're set up.

If we can't verify your information, we may ask you to verify your linked bank account another way, such as:

Logging into your bank

When verifying your account, if your bank is available in the Add a bank account list, you can select it and log in directly with your bank credentials. This is the fastest way to verify your bank account.

Using microdeposits

Alternatively, you can verify your account using two microdeposits (small payments) sent to your linked bank account.

Here's how to verify your account using microdeposits:

Sign in to Seller Hub or My eBay.
Select the banner to verify your bank account.
Select Verify with microdeposits.
Once they've reached your account (1-3 business days), sign in to Seller Hub or My eBay.
Select the banner to verify your bank account and enter the microdeposit amounts.

It can take up to 3 business days for microdeposits to reach your account, and we'll email you to confirm they've arrived. The microdeposits will be withdrawn from your bank account within a few days.

Tip
Don't attempt to enter any amounts until the microdeposits have reached your bank account, as this could cause issues with verifying your account.

Providing your bank document

We may need a recent bank document if we're unable to automatically verify your bank details using one of the methods above. If we need this additional information, we'll send you an email with instructions on how to upload the image.

Your bank document can be a bank statement or screenshot from your online account.

Please make sure that the bank document:

Is for the account you're trying to register – the name should be the same name that's on your eBay account
Clearly shows your first and last name, BSB number, account number and the bank name or logo
Is 3 months old or less
Is in colour, not black and white

You can blank out any transactions or amounts to protect your privacy.

Your image can be in JPEG, JPG, PDF, or PNG format. The maximum file size is 4 MB.❞

You shouldn't list until you’re verified, really.

Oh, and DO NOT change your account to business if it’s personal. You can sell with a personal account and you won’t lose the benefits and perquisites that are not offered to an eBay business account. Furthermore, you can never change back to a personal account once you’ve changed over.

Nothing to do with selling before or how long you have had your account

You need to actually read what you ticked you had read and understood when you listed

other members cannot help when you ignore the actual questions asked in order to try to help you

Managed Payments is for ALL sellers, including you

How long you have had an account and how much you sold years ago is not relevant

ebay consider you a new seller, as they do every seller who has not sold in some time

Even if you DID complete ALL steps for Managed Payments AND were confirmed as verified, the hold is STILL 30 days

If you did not complete everything, you do not get your money

It really is that simple

Ebay asked for both my Bank user account and password. What the hell!!!

I don't mind them verifying my account, but asking for my password is criminal!

There is nothing criminal about verifying your account. Provide the required details, have your account confirmed in a nanosecond, then change your password - simples
