Police related items

So I put up some vintage police items, coat and badge, which haven't been used for over 50 years and bears no resemblance to the current uniform and Ebay takes them down citing the police policy which says it's so people don't impersonate police. What's more, they take it down with no right of reply. What planet do these idiots live on?

Did you have the word "obsolete" in your title and description? Were you listing in Collectables - Historical Memorabilia - Police? I have sold police badges successfully, though they were more like 1940s 1950s than 1980s. There are certainly examples of obsolete uniform items and badges that have sold within Australia in this category in the last 3 months. If you decide to try re-listing (just one item to see how you go) do write a whole new title and description - don't just stick "obsolete" in somewhere and think the bots won't recognise you again. Thats because Ebay cant Vet every item to make sure it is current or old. If they had to do that, you would complain about higher fee's to cover them employing experts.

Thank you for your intelligent answer. I had vintage, obsolete, the era (50s/60s) I even pointed out that these items have not been used for over 50 years and bear no resemblance to the current uniform. It said the action was taken by a customer service rep so if true, they are just absolute idiots!

even if it was a customer service rep, they are not in a position to validate every claim made by sellers in their advertising, they would need hundreds of CS reps to both be expert and go and check every advert on Ebay. And even than they would have to physically go and inspect every item, because we know not all sellers are up front with all information

I have never known Ebay go to every sellers house or business, and physically confirm an item, and I doubt they ever have even done a check of every photo and item. But happy to be wrong.

Yes I am very happy with the fee's and restrictive trading, it protects the honest sellers
