Ebay long ago decided the casual market for people to sell their unwanted toaster or whatever was best left for FB or Gumtree (which it owns). Ebay has evolved and is quite a sophisticated marketplace with a huge number of integrations, automations, API's, plug ins and such. All aimed at volume sellers.

I saw that in UK, cash on pick up may no longer be an option. I wonder how long before that filters down to Australia? I can only think that ebay is after clearer cut evidence of payment or non payment.

Perhaps I have read it wrong but eBay is not "raising the bar on casual sellers".

The UK has a 2 tier seller system... Private & Business.

Numerous sellers are avoiding correct fees & the law in the UK by listing as Private Sellers while running a Business.

It all sounds like a positive direction.

300 listing a month for a private seller is heaps, personally I would say it should be dragged back even further here in Australia, surely that level is getting to business levels, and pretending to be private (or casual or hobby) is well just ripping of the system.

As for cash on pickup, a great move,

sounds like another ecommercebytes beat up whats more challenging , its making them accountable.

I believe dropping cash on pick up is a terrible idea... for sellers.
