Why is eBay put my funds on Hold, Never had a problem in 15yrs. Haven't soild anything for a number of years now, I have shipped some goods to the USA from Australia via express shipping Australia Post, entered the tracking, All is good and goods are the USA now ready to be shipped to buyer, why are i not getting paid. eBay are crooks and getting inteset on my money, i Have shipped goods in good faith Py Now!

if you haven't sold for years, you are considered a new seller....have you signed up for Managed Payments?

Should have done your homework on current selling.

All will be ' good ' when the buyer has recieved the ' goods ' - and has no problem with the purchase.

Which could take up to 30 days.

You have answered your own question

You have not sold anything in a number of years, therefor eBay consider you a 'new' seller

Not about shipping goods in good faith, you are required to send items that have been paid for within your handling time

You agreed to the terms when you listed and ticked you had 'read and understood' box

And sorry, but no, the 'getting interest' on the funds on hold is not true, and would be illegal for them to do so

Did you fully complete sign up to Managed Payments and be verified to sell before doing so?

Managed Payments is not new, it came in over 4 and a half years ago and is the only way to be paid

If you have not done what is required of you as a seller, you will not be paid until you do so

And no, nobody here works for eBay

We just simply know what we are obligated to do if we want to sell on eBay

FYI I have been on eBay since 2005, if I were to sell something now on my selling ID (close to 2000 feedback) I would have holds on my funds too

Not any more....they changed it a few months ago.

Unless it was (as I thought in my reply) simply the usual objection to what was agreed to actually happening in so far as the hold itself goes

AS the others have said in regards to holds.

But of course you have proof that Ebay are crooks, take it to the ACCC, who will say that you ticked that big I agree to the T&C's box,

And in regards to the interest, good on them if they now can, it will keep them profitable, and maybe hold of the next fee hike which is due.

I havent sold in a long time and just recently got surprised by this as well. Sold an item for $150, paid 20$ in fees and then hit with a 30 day hold on the payment...I regret selling it on the platform. But it is what it is, i didnt keep up with the terms of service or anything, didnt read about updates to selling either, just listed it hoping for a quick sale. My fault in the end. The fee really caught me off guard though to be honest.

That’s an honest acknowledgement.

Yes, if you’re going to sell on eBay again, you should bear in mind that eBay will still hold the payment if you only sell infrequently. It’s a risk mitigation measure for them.

If you can list the occasional item once a… week? … or so, you might find the sweet spot for no longer triggering that “new seller” category and being able to get your funds without that delaying hold.

I remember receiving all of the email correspondence and messages from eBay about Managed Payments and the changes involved, over quite a considerable time. (I still have them saved for reference.) This is in spite of being a buyer rather than a seller. It’s human behaviour to expect procedures and processes to remain the same, but of course it’s not logical; changes can happen and alter the whole landscape!

It’s the very “occasional” seller (who lists items only as per their specific need at the time) who’s most likely to get caught out. Unfortunately it’s that same sort of seller least likely to check the communications from eBay about changes - or to read the Help pages or Seller Hub to see if anything has drastically altered in the interim. Perhaps the best advice is – post on these boards before listing if it’s been a while, to ask “I haven’t sold for a while; are there any changes of which I need to be aware?” and then read the links and replies posted. They’ll be forthcoming, believe me!

The fees are prominently displayed before triggering a listing.

And they are pretty much the same as they have been for a decade - you just pay eBay, instead of eBay and Paypal.
