https://www.ebay.com.au/sellercentre/conditions-grading

Whilst imho this is a good idea, I’m not sure how this will work, particularly with Item not as described disputes.

Whilst a seller lists an item with the specific “excellent condition”, a buyer may simply dispute this and state it’s in “fair condition” and raise a dispute.

as we know eBay will always side with a buyer 99.9% of the time so I don’t see how this will work. This is purely an opinion based thing, and people’s opinions can be very different.

i purchased a top for one of my girls, seller stated it was “as new”. When I received the top, it was faded, all the inner lining was frayed. When I messaged the seller she simply said “I listed it in the condition I saw it as”!

just my opinion 🙂

As a seller you need to understand the gradings and take the care to grade your items. As a seller of trading cards grading is vital and for the most part the ebay system conforms to the generally accepted grading guides.

the biggest frustration I have with item specifics is how they work with item variations.

Imagine you're selling T-shirts. You have various designs and for each you use the sizes as variations. The issue is the shirt size is a mandatory item specific so your parent item has to have a 'size' specified even though the size is user selectable. I have the same issue with card grades - I have to assign a condition to each item even through my item variations are based on conditions.

They just don't think these things through some times
