I've given aussie ozzie a tick in the hope if he sees any notification, he may come back to see the replies because I think this is yet another area he has muddled up and he thinks he has ebay's ear here.

Aussie, the ad showed to me as $9,15 postage. I'd say gutterpunkz is spot on and you have used calculated postage. I'm not a seller but if I were using that, I'd be erring on the side of caution when entering in dimensions/weight etc. If you're out and it goes up a category, the postage price rises accordingly.

You ask who is responsible for the discrepancy? You are. Ebay will not refund you the difference. The buyer does not have to pay any extra either. It is deemed as your error.

No reserves. You say you could not find where you could set a reserve. Did that not ring any alarm bells for you? You listed items without a reserve & then complain because they sold. There is no reserve on ebay for most things so start at a minimum price you'd be happy with.

If you were deeply unhappy with the price plus the underquoted postage, you could have cancelled the sale and refunded the buyer. But it's not a great start to selling.

Before you sell anything else, get your act together and read up the help pages.

1 ))) For this Item#176822090377, I seek to know why EBay Billed the Buyer only $9.15 for Postage, when in fact I paid, $14.95 Postage (Aust Post), causing me a Loss of $5.80, on the Sale. The Local Aust Post charge should have been 18.95, I established, which would have caused a loss for me of $9.80.

What Happened here and who is responsible for the discrepancy ?????

2))) Also, in relation to a number of Computer Motherboard Combos, I had advertised for Auction, I could NOT find where I could set a Reserve Value, causing all Three (3) of my MBs to be sold at a Ridiculous Low Value, Two (2) of which were sold at the Starting Value, when they were worth much more.

Can you please respond to both Comments.

That item number does not come up ??

You cannot set a reserve on auctions - what you should be doing is set the opening bid to an amount you are willing to sell the item.

Postage to me in WA would have been $18.95.

With regards to reserves, there are none in auctions except for motor vehicles and real estate.

In effect you starting price is your reserve.

Edit. Snap Dom, it comes up on "sold items" for me.

This is a member to member forum, eBay very rarely read here

You as the seller decide on how much you choose for postage

eBay billed the buyer the postage you charged the buyer

There is no such thing as a reserve on eBay, except for vehicles

Again, you as the seller decide on the starting price at auction, so if you you choose to start at a price which was 'ridiculously low', again, that was you choice

As it states, the seller assumes responsibility for each listing

I suggest you read up on the selling basics since you do not know how these basic things work

I hope you have fully completed sign up to Managed Payments and been verified to sell

And that you realise eBay will see you as a 'new seller' and your funds will be held for 30 days accordingly

You chose to use calculated postage, via ebay postage labels, the charge from your location to the Melbourne/Vic vicinity is $9.15, assuming the parcel details you entered were correct.

It sounds like you may have understated the size/weight of the parcel, and then when using AP were required to pay the correct rate.

As others have stated reserves on ebay, only apply to select categories.
