Not helpful from my perspective. I run auctions twice weekly, and have no more non-payers for them than I do for BINs - I do realise that you can set up immediate payment required for BINs but I have never bothered.

This will actively frustrate combining postage - all very well for eBay to say that you can always refund any excess, but unless you are dealing with repeat buyers who know you are ethical, they may hit the roof when confronted with excessive postage charges. And immediately cancel the sales. I have "I combine postage" all over my listings. Will I even be able to send a combined invoice if I sneak in under the 1 hour deadline?

Pity the poor Overseas buyers who are hit with VAT / Sales Tax on every single postage transaction, instead of just one. I often save my buyers over $100 in postage costs on a combined invoice. Excess taxes can't be refunded.

Why would eBay do this? 1. Trying to get rid of auctions - we all know they prefer BIN. 2 Encouraging free postage. 3. Assuming that many sellers will not bother to refund, meaning more fees for them.

However from the link you provided to the USA discussion I see that there is going to be an option under Buyer Management to "Require all buyers to provide a payment method before they make a bid", as there already is for Make an Offer - I have never ticked this option. USA sellers mentioned these two options being ticked automatically so I will keep an eye on this tomorrow 11 March. If the option does not appear on my account, does this mean I have not been selected as a Seller for the test run? Or is it "Items" that are selected rather than sellers?

I can't see any comment after this initial 25.6.24 post - does that mean it was never fully implemented in USA? Are we being used as guinea pigs once again?

Another thought - instead of the processing fee for 1 combined payment, we'll be charged every time eBay takes an individual payment from a buyer. If we pass that on, the buyers definitely won't be happy.

Why? Because it didn't work? And then re-introduced maybe in some altered form June 2024. Persistent aren't they?

This is ridiculous.

Are buyers who bid on auction to be placed at a financial disadvantage compared to buyers of fixed price listings? Do I understand correctly that buyers will have one hour and will be charged after that? Other buyers have 4 days minimum.

What about buyers who place snipe bids when an auction is due to end at done unearthly hour? I don’t think they’ll want to wake up in the small hours, to change payment details if needed. That rather belies one of the purposes of sniping.

eBay are fixing a problem that doesn’t exist, and creating problems that will annoy both buyers and sellers. What hommus-brained nincompoop came up with this?
