First of all, you need to be registered to sell and signed up for managed payments so if you haven't done that, remove your listing for the watch.

As you're a new inexperienced seller and with the item you're selling, there's a very high chance that you'll be targeted by scammers.

The buyer has 4 days to pay. But as pointed out, you don't get the money straight away. You must post the item when ebay tells you to, not before.

My apologies for thinking you were inexperienced as I now see you've sold in the past.

I didn't check, as with the question you asked , I thought you were new.

Everything else applies though in regards to payment and scammers.

Even if you receive a 'real' payment, you run the risk of the buyer opening an 'item not as described' claim, sending back a fake watch and you losing your money and the watch.

eBay isn't always the best place to sell high priced items.

Your scenario of someone attempting an after-sale claim "not as advertised" and then returning a fake watch is very concerning.

You also mention "...eBay isn't always the best place to sell high priced items" Where would you suggest for such a sale?

I can't see all of your 218 feedback, for some reason, but I can see the last 12 months and it looks as if you have not been a seller recently. That means, as others have said, that your money would be on hold.

I would personally be very wary of selling such a high priced item on ebay. As others have said, the chance of being scammed is there and the higher priced items often get targeted.

I would be hesitant to accept the offer and would probably just withdraw the ad.

If I were you, I'd be looking for more specific selling options. Maybe an auction house that deals in these sorts of higher end items. The commission rate may be higher but at least you won't end up losing the money and the watch. It's too much to lose.

I would advise ending this listing NOW. As Springy says, this is really no place to sell such high-priced (and very-much faked) items. You leave yourself open to being scammed. As Springy also says, a reputable auction house would be your best bet. Check out someone reasonably local to you on-line; most auction houses these days include high-end watches and jewellery in their auctions. Yes you may pay extra fees - say 24% as opposed to eBay's 14.5% but what's 10% of your profit compared to potentially losing everything? The auction house may not achieve the price you are asking (I have no idea what the watch is worth) but they will achieve the best price possible at the time. (You will be able to set a reserve if you wish but I would be guided by what they say.) email any likely auction house with an image of your watch and papers, and see what they say. Good luck.
