Mark item as collected

The buyers has physically collected the item and has signed a receipt to that effect.

How do I mark the item as having been collected?

Not sure what the point of having the buyer sign a receipt is?

eBay are not going to accept that as proof of anything

Did you use the QR code, or enter it in eBay as required?

Ebay have made the pickup process quite easy. It just requires the seller to ask the buyer to bring the QR code or the 6 digit code, if preferred, when arranging pickup time and place. Then either scan the code or write it down and enter it manually against the item details online when handing over the goods.

Works every time for me (I sell handmade items on another ebay account).

This process is clearly set out in Ebay's help pages.

A signed copy of the eBay order form is acceptable proof of pickup.

I took it as the person wrote it 'signed a receipt' they didn't say the buyer signed the eBay order form, so I didn't assume that is what they mean

'Signing a receipt' to me means signing one of those pages from a receipt book that you can buy from the newsagents etc

But like I say, I just took it how they wrote it

It's quite obvious that the word "receipt" was a poor choice of words. As we all know, a receipt is proof of purchase. It is signed by the seller - not the buyer (as the OP indicated), and the buyer retains it.

It really doesn't matter what the OP had the buyer sign (or what they want to call it) - as long as it contains both buyer's and seller's details, sale date, item title, item number, order number, price and collection date.... all of which identify the sold item and that it has been collected.

A signed ' receipt ' can also mean proof of delivery - ie the buyer signed a receipt on receiving the item.

What do you think signature on delivery means. ??

If the buyer completed checkout as local pick up, they would have received a code.

You could message the buyer and ask for the code.

Hopefully the buyer will leave you feedback in which case if there's a problem with your payout, you can contact eBay Help.

And unless the buyer actually leaves feedback - or a message about ' receipt ' - or gives the code to the seller - there is no way to prove whose signature is on the ' receipt '.
