An update to selling on eBay

Coming at the end of April, we're introducing updates to improve our online marketplace and make selling easier. Learn more about the changes and what they mean for you below.

What this means for you

We’re updating our subscriptions for sellers who want more flexibility and control or who sell higher volumes.

This includes a new Pro Starter plan subscription for sellers who use advanced selling features, like multi-quantity and multi-variation listings.

Based on your usage of these selling features, we believe you’ll have the best selling experience with a Pro Starter plan.

The Pro Starter plan reflects your current selling experience and includes access to advanced selling features, as well as expanded shipping and payout options and additional customer support.
This plan has no monthly cost and you will continue to pay final value fees, as you do today.

Free selling

We’re introducing free selling in late April for Australia-based sellers with up to $25,000 in sales annually. Eligible sellers will no longer pay transaction fees when they sell on eBay.com.au, across all categories.

Learn more about selling fees and how your sales are evaluated.

Free selling is intended for sellers with simpler selling needs and does not include access to advanced selling features or scheduled payouts. These sellers will have to buy labels on eBay for eligible items. A Buyer Protection fee will also be added to their listings and paid by the buyer to eBay.

Based on your current selling activity, you'll qualify for free selling.

You don’t need to do anything right now; we’ll confirm your eligibility in late April and explain how you can cancel the Pro Starter plan if you would rather take advantage of free selling. If you choose to cancel, you will lose access to the selling features available in the Pro Starter plan.

Yes, but the catch is you Have to use their labels on that option. Would be ok if their labels were correct & cheaper as they trumpet, but they're not.

Sorry, I just realised your post was about Pro-Subscriptions. if you use the 'Free Seller' option you have no option but to use their postage labels.

So in hindsight, this was never about trying to get us cheaper postage labels; it was always about this grand plan, obviously.

Google can eBay force using their labels for postage - or somesuch.

eBay needs all the buyers it can get.

Reading around, since eBay introduced a buyer protection fee on the UK site, clearly shown on a listing, buyers aren't happy at all. Some presume it's the seller asking for more money and others refuse to pay what they see as an 'extra' fee so hit the back button

I can certainly understand the buyers' thinking. I would think that too.

Ebay seem determined to keep shooting themselves in the foot, so to speak. Making things more difficult rather than the good old 'keep it simple'.

So, that thread where I put up the survey about labels and whether we would stay or go, if they made it mandatory…..must have had a lot of disinterest.

So they will now ‘skirt around’ until they lose so much in fees, that they will keep putting up postage…..the mind boggles!

Ahhhh! I'd forgotton about that survey, twyn. Tbh, I think they'd skew the results to get whatever outcome they wanted, regardless of what the few of us who were asked about had to say.

Ahh yes, their 'cheap' postage costs! I posted yesterday on another thread that I sold a book (another Id) & ebay wanted to charge me $22+ postage for a large letter with tracking. No thanks.

And all that when eBay is losing buyers to other selling platforms - shooting themselves in the foot indeed.

I wonder how many more buyers will look elsewhere for their items ?
