Valentines day is all about spending money on useless carp, not about love.

That's not what it's about, that's just how some people choose to 'celebrate' it - same goes for Christmas etc.

If my OH even noticed it was Valentines Day I would probably be comatose for the rest of the day. Fortunately I think there is a good likelihood I will remain upright and awake as I ever am. :^O

Valentines day is the most pathetic of all the calender holidays!

My wife is amazing, we have 2 kids under 5, 1 just starting school and she is an absolute SUPERMUM and I make sure I remind her everyday...Every SINGLE DAY!

On Valentines day there will be people running around at the last minute picking up flowers from the closest pertrol station on their way home from work...lol you silly silly sheeps are so romantic hahah

Valentine's day is like Christmas/Easter/Fathers day/Mothers day, etc... it's a reason for people to make sure they show someone how important they are to them. It just happens that it's usually done by giving presents. Yeah, retailers cash in big time but they do every single other day of the week too. At least you're buying something for someone you care about. Love doesn't come from presents but it can be sent in the form of a present.

Ive had boyfriends who bought me expensive gifts, big bunches of roses and expensive candle light dinners and then turned around and treated me like carp.

Buying gifts and spending money does not equal love. Its the every day actions of a couple who have mutual love and respect for each other, in the tough times as well as on the sunny days, that means 'love'.

Over priced roses and stuffed teddy bears mean nothing.
