its not unusual at all just perhaps odd on that board but the community board often ends up with a locked thread if its veered off topic too much or has been reported a lot etc they usually leave the thread but lock it

They usually do it when the thread has relevant information in it but it's gone out of control.. I've seen it happen a couple of times..

There is another locked one over DB, My daughter is marrying a Japanese or something, when the thread gets nasty or out of hand or too many of the posts are reported, it gets locked by the mods and they decide whether is it reinstated or removed all together.

They also get to choose who else gets a hefty slap for having any off topic or inter whatever spats within the thread.

This is the second locked thread within a week that I have seen.

On both occasions they had gone way off topic and the spats were getting very personal. On at least one of them there were slaps issued AFTER the thread had been locked.

The author seems to be one of the new members who has recently opened wind up threads so if it wasn't taken seriously it isn't surprising it has ended badly. I am fed up with this particular newbie and I hope he/she has given up.
