Yes.. unfortunately I've closed mine 48 hrs back after 3-4 years.. just not realistic to increase store fees just on 100% .. and thats just the start. If I did that business.. people walk.. well...sometimes like the power companies,.. fuel & other essential service.. ebay and the like are NOT essential service..

I don't get taxed under $18,000 & can't find out why .. with all the increased volumne of buyer traffic.. ebay needed to be so savage.. no excuse accept ... well.. you make up your mind.

I closed mine, then opened it the next day again:-D

Kinda had to as I spent a few hundred $$$ on DVds so cant let them just sit around, plues when i woke up the next morning, I was lost so i reopened it

RIght, eBay is certainly not an essential service -- but it kind of is for people who've gambled on making a living out of it.

A lot of the problem, I guess, is that eBay has become a huge dumping ground for much of the world's unwanted 'excess stock'.... many things that used to be considered rare and collectable are now exposed for being common and easy to find.

Consequently there's been a massive downturn in sales for a lot of categories in just the last few years.

I'm very glad I don't have to make a living on here. It's a shame I can't sell a few odds and ends on here without encountering so many obstacles though.

I know the feeling, flashback_deals! I have tons of excess stock lying around too.... at this stage, I'd prefer to do the 30 free listings a month, if I ever lose my Powerseller status. Until then, I'm not listing much.

Do DVDs sell anymore? I know that CDs don't, not unless practically given away -- and even then it's hard to do! 🙂

I used to do record fairs back from when I was 13 with my day which is like over 20 yaers ago:-D

Cd's used to sell well on eBay, i struggle to get 99 cents most times, CD Singles are even harder - I just got a rid of a heap in a bulk lot!

these days on eBay, I find EP's and 45s are a lot easier - but getting a good EP from a garage sale or a secondhand shop is like waiting for a pink moon or Melbourne to win the AFL Premiership!

I found a Led Zeppelin LP 2 weeks ago and sold it within a few hours

I recently bought out a shop of their DVDs, good thing is I can sell them a lot cheaper than other sellers:-D but would just do it mainly to get a feedback boost so my limits can be raised or removed, thats more important to me than making a massive profit on them

Led Zep vinyl will always sell!

If you got the DVDs at a good price and can turn a profit on 'em, that great.

I used to sell a ton of CDs on eBay years ago, for US$15-$20 each on average, back whern the US$ was worth way more than ours so it was often around AU$30 per disc.

Loonggggg time ago! Free internet downloads have mostly killed off CD sales.

There are some music genres where the fans will always prefer the physical format over digital.

There is also a worldwide online marketplace that pretty much caters specifically to those that prefer physical media. Not saying what won't sell on eBay will sell there and/or for more, but for anyone with a bit of stock and nothing else to do with it, I'd probably recommend seeing if there's a massive, dedicated member-created online music database where you can find the discographies of just about any artist and doing some exploring...

Well I haven't re opend mine yet, when I closed it back at the end of March store fee was still $19.99 but listing fee was double what it is now and FVF was .9% higher so on balance I think my fees will be about the same, possibly less. As long as I continue to make about the same profot every month I will keep the store open, if I don't then I will close it and change my business model as I have done numerous times over the years.

I realise that it is going to be much harder for those selling books and media, with the advent of ebooks, digital film downloads and emusic ebay probably isn't the place to sell those things exclusively any more.

Don't think so Kustom, I haven't paid for anything I have read for months now with the number of free books available on the Amazon site. I have bought two 'real' books since I got back but have not even opened them yet lol.

Yes, they always have. But they must be delivered in a PHYSICAL form - CD, USB Stick, Paper, etc.

The policy that bans them is the Digital Downloads policy.

It's not about the items... it's the delivery method that matters.

Alternatively, you can list them on eBay USA under the Classifieds format (no feedback)

No way, im not going anywhere, this year is better than last year, all bar last month, its rockin for me.

To the person who said they dont know why they dont get taxed under 18 grand, its because the govt raised the tax free threshold thats why.

Im on carers payment, i need to find out if thats considered part of the 18 grand or on top of, i also heard if your under 18 grand you dont have to do a tax return, hope so.

You can sell up to 27 grand as a hobby and you dont have to declare it to centerlink unless you bought your stuff from a wholesaler which has an abn. You can even work for cash and you only have to declare it if the emplorer has an abn - thats what centerlink told me a while ago

But once you reach or get close to the $27,000 turnover, I think you have to declare it as a business. That was the last amount I was told a couple of years ago
