You need to open an Unpaid Item dispute - an option available in the 'Resolve A Problem' link (dropdown menu next to the transaction in your sold items list).

Open that now, and after at least four days have passed, if the buyer still hasn't paid during that time, you can close the case and you will be credited back the final value fee and relist the item if desired.

Next time don't give them so long, you can open an unpaid item dispute after 4 days then the buyer still has another 4 days after that to prevent getting an unpaid item strike by paying.

Opening an unpaid item case immediately without even attempting to contact the buyer is insulting and corrodes trust. Sure some buyers muck you around and ebay needs a mechanism for tardy payers, but some sellers use the UIC as a blunt instrument without even trying to contact their buyer first.

In my case we have an intermittent rural internet connection and run a demanding business, often working up tp 16 hrs 7 days, so I can't always get back online in some of the absurdly short timeframes expected. I've had a few UICs opened, paid all as soon as I could get back online, and have no strikes and a good feedback rating; I even now send the seller a courtesy msg when bidding to explain that I can't get online that often and can be relied on to pay as soon as I do, include my mobile number, and my feedback profile is public so anyone can check out my payment record....yet some buyers persist in ill-mannered rush to UIC. I now label them 'hysterical' in my bidding notes and avoid them where possible, so their rudeness and failure to communicate mean they lose sales at good prices they may otherwise make to me.

I also point out to those who think the UIC spurred me to pay that I in fact paid as soon as I could get online, before even receiving the UIC message, so they're mistaken in crediting the UIC with a result. And those sellers who don't supply their bank deposit details at checkout or when contacted, and then open a UIC while the buyer is still waitng for the info necessary to make the payment, are really too much.

Sorry for long post, but it's all about establishing a good working relationship built on mutual trust, especially if you want repeat sales to reliable buyers, and treating all buyers as defaulters won't do that.

Opening an unpaid item case immediately without even attempting to contact the buyer is insulting and corrodes trust.

I disagree, as both a buyer and a seller, although I do send a courtesy message to buyers if payment hasn't been received within the stated time frame in my listings (7 days).

The reason being, is that it's not (JMHO) the seller's responsibility to chase payments from silent buyers. I realise you have your reasons for not being able to be online frequently, and I'm not saying they're not good or legitimate reasons, but in the instances where you don't communicate that to sellers, they have to make their decisions about what to do with unpaid items on far less information than what you have. In other words, you know why you haven't paid or contacted the seller, but the seller doesn't.

Secondly, when I do open unpaid item dispute, it has absolutely nothing to do with the buyer at all. I don't care if they pay or not at that point, and I certainly don't open them to prompt payment. I open them because I haven't heard a word from the buyer, don't know why they've disappeared off the face of the earth, so just want to finalise the transaction one way or another and move on. Some sellers, again without knowing individual buyer's circumstances, just don't have the time or inclination to find out, and just want to keep their business ticking.

Sellers can NOT leave neg feedback for buyers so saying you have good feedback as a buyer means nothing at all.

If you had non payer strikes there is no way for anyone else to know anyway unless you tell people.

Even if seller does not send a reminder, eBay does send one on day 2. I usually re-send invoice on day 4 and when I do not hear then I open case.

eBay has given seller tools to deal with NPB, there is nothing wrong or rude with the seller who uses them = open NPB dispute on 4th day. Some people sell hundreds or thousands of items a week, they would have it set up for NPB cases to be opened automatically, it would be impossible to deal with any other way.

As for sellers not providing their banking details; maybe they do not want you to pay in their bank. I do have my bank details available, but that is only because I am sick of people asking for them, I prefer PP and would rather if people did not use DD. The few dollars it saves me in fees is not worth my time looking for payments to clear up.
