I used at times to sell items ay auction with a starting bid of $0.99 Sometimes I did well usually I didnt and a couple of times I had to sell ites for $0.99 that were worth $200 - $300 I would never list items for auction anymore though. Ebay has pretty well stamped out the benefits of that.

I sold a fair bit of stuff for 99c when I first started, but that was because I was a mug newbie, not because I put the wrong starting price in.

Yes, me too, $46,000 when it should have been $46. Needless to say it didn't sell until I revised it. I did get the confused question though before I realised what I'd done.:^O

I once put $240 for postage when it should have been $2.40

I knew something was wrong when this new listing had about 12 views in the 30 seconds after I listed it.

the item in question was $4.99

I have never made a loss, I never list anything second hand at less than $1.99 which will cover all fees and still leave me a few cents. New items are usually listed as BINs at the purchase price + fees + profit margin. I have on the odd occasion missed a dot and listed at a higher price than intended so I suppose you could say I wasted some time until some kind soul emailed me (you know who you all are..........thank you again), especially when I first opened my store lol.

Many years ago - before l learnt to research the unknown things l sell BEFORE listing them.

l have a huge shed full of second hand items and old shop stock. l just grab a box and list / sort through it as l go.

Had some bike shorts once, those funny things with a padded rear end. All new with tags and only two sizes. So l listed them at $12 each, all 30 pairs of them sold within the hour to one lady. She asked if l had any more.

Feeling l'd made a boo boo, l searched the French brand name on the tag. Dammit, $180 each new.

Still, l'd made my money since they cost me nothing in the first place and l learnt a very valuable lesson - research everything no matter how dull an item it may seem.
