99 cent winner wants 1 week extension

My friend ran an auction which she started at 99 cents and that is all she got for it. The lucky winner emailed asking if he could have an extention of 1 week to pay.

What do you guys think about this?

Can't get my head around this.

Are we really this poor in Australia?

Tell your friend to open a non paying dispute 4 days after the sale date and time and if they still have not paid 4 days later from time and date of opening it then close it and give them the strike they deserve and add the to the blocked bidder list Add an eBay user to my Blocked Bidder/Buyer List

Time wasters are a pain.

Also put in place the blocks to stop non payers with strikes from being able to bid/buy.

To put these blocks in place hover your mouse over account in your my eBay page and from the drop down click on Site Preferences then go down the list till you see Buyer requirements and to the right of that click on show then click on edit. From there you can put in place the blocks you want, to stop those you want to block from purchasing from you.

I hope this teaches your friend a valuable lesson, that it is a mug's game starting auctions at 99c unless you are using them as loss leaders or you are 100% certain the bidding will go way above that.

Well, if your friend started the auction at 0.99cents and the item ended up selling for lets say $990.00, would you still be saying dont extend and start a NPB dispute? final value should have nothing to do with the decision process here.

errrrrrrrrr .99c and $990 no difference, really?

It would make a big difference to me, however, anyone wanting a payment extension would have to ask me PRIOR to bidding on an item, of any value.

bsal... opening the dispute on day 4, and not closing it before day 8 would give the ''buyer'' time to pay in the 1 week extention, but if she's just a time waster, at least the seller does not need to wait any longer than the week to relist her item.

that is why you open a dispute that you can close a day after the promised payment.

thats the sort of advise that is appreciate putney, sale price is not the deciding factor. the OP was hinting at complaining about the .99cent side of the transaction. That should be irrelevant in any advise given.

I think the price is of no issue. Thats what happens if someone starts at a low price. As for the extention well it's up to u friend. Be it .99cents or $999 a bidder should make sure they have the funds before bidding. and just a quick note yes there are some families in Australia who are doing it tough and sometimes they may not have the .99 cents but then they shouldn't bid
