Does anyone out there stick their own printed labels to Aust Post satchels? I mean the normal parcel and express post ones, not Click & Send.

My hand writing is a bit messy and I find filling out the satchels by hand a bit of a chore, so I want to print the delivery address on a sticker and attach it somehow. I guess I may need to tape it on.

I can't use the C&S satchels as I need to insure packages regularly, so have to use the bought over the counter ones as they let you add insurance.

You can use the Click & Send system to process normal labels (both regular and express), print them out then pay & lodge at the post office. You'll probably find it's cheaper than satchels, especially if you can buy packaging in bulk ($6.95 for regular, $9.55 for express, normal price for any add-ons). I just tape the labels on to the package when I do it that way, but I think you can get pockets to stick on and slip the label inside. The PO staff may need to be shown how to process them, though (mine didn't know how to do it at first and gave them new barcodes and tracking numbers).

If it helps, I do often receive satchels with address stickers on them - pretty sure they're done with a Dymo labeller. Apparently the new satchels aren't quite the same as the older ones and things don't stick to them as well, so if you do stick or tape something to them make sure it isn't able to peel off easily.

Near as I've been able to tell, options that come up in red are extras available to the address you're posting from / to, but not with the service you're using. If they come up in black, they're available to the address and with the service you're using. I always get Extra Cover come up in red, but clicking on it does nothing, even if I've selected SOD, which is red in the options but remains a tickable box under Delivery Features.

When I process via C&S but don't use flat rate products, the options are shown in black and clicking them opens up the additional options available when using them.

The Dymo address labels on the satchel parcels I receive aren't very big (maybe about 8x4cm), but the sender sticks them around where the name etc is meant to be filled in, then still writes the postcode in the boxes (even though also printed on the label).

No delivery problems so far (from about 30 parcels sent / received).

One more thing - if you do use labels on packaging which has the postcode boxes pre-printed on it you are supposed to leave them blank.... It's either addressed by hand or addressed by label, not a mixture.

Yes, I use my own DYMO address labels on every parcel/satchel/ letter. I even stick "from" label on satchels backs instead of writing my address as a sender. I have been doing it for at least two years.

You do not have to mimic anything and I guess you can even leave postcode boxes black on a satchel. I leave them blank most f the time. I use 101x54mm Dymo labels. I just print buyer's address on it, sometimes with their phone number and with "If undelivered please return to....." note in much smaller font at the bottom of the lable. It's just because I did not stick another label with my "from" details. Now I use both labels but this note is still on "to" lable just in case.
I stick "to" label just at the place where it is supposed to be written down.

And I do not think postcode boxes are scanned on satchels. It is not a flat envelope and in most cases contains boxes inside. You cannot scan, read, recognize and process written postcode automatically for items that are not flat.
