Australia Post eBay store not issuing invoices

I bought some boxes from the australiapoststore and didn't receive a tax invoice. Has anyone else got a proper invoice showing GST when they've bought Click & Send satchels or boxes via their eBay store?

There was an Invoice Enclosed pouch on the bundle when it arrived, but the only thing in it was a packing slip, no invoice inside.

The Paypal email receipt is no good either as that doesn't say Tax Invoice on it nor show any GST amount.

From the local post office I get a receipt stating the words Tax Invoice and the GST amount paid shown, but I thought getting them delivered would be more convenient.

Ebay invoices already have GST included and are indeed a tax invoice. Just work out your own GST by dividing the total of the invoice by 11.

I don't think that is correct. What about people who are not registered for GST? ebay has no way of knowing who is registered or not. You should ask for a Tax Invoice from Australia Post.

The seller should be able to email you a Tax Invoice for your records. Did you know you can also buy the boxes directly through the Aus Post online store with free delivery?

What is incorrect about it?

All ebay invoices are GST inclusive. If you are not registered for GST then you have to pay it. If you are registered for GST then you work out the GST component of the invoice by dividing the total by 11.

Many sellers are not registered for GST. If you buy from them there is no GST on the transaction.

Whooaaa - GST is a component of almost every transaction - a consumer still pays Goods and Services Tax on their purchases. Apart from items excluded from GST, every item has GST included in the price. A consumer not registered for GST just can't claim it. Lyn is spot on. Divide by 11 to get your GST component, but as Wheels said, the seller is obliged to provide a tax invoice, so ask.

I would have expected an organisation like AP to have included one with their deliveries as a matter of course. I will try ordering from their own website store instead next time and see what happens.

Bingo, just bought via their own website and had the option to download a tax invoice PDF. However you must pay by credit card there, they don't take Paypal.

It's fine to calculate your own GST component but for the buyer to claim the GST back on their BAS the supplier is required to provide a Tax Invoice (with those words on it) which includes their ABN number and states either that the total includes GST or lists the GST amount on a separate line.

And I just had a excellent and fast resolution from Aust Post here on eBay.

For anyone else in the same boat, they recommend sending them a message after your purchase from their eBay store and they will then email you a tax invoice. They are not issued automatically.
