They don't want the boat or the money....for the most part they have what they want. They have your ebay ID, email address, phone number and probably your full name and address if they are in the seller's details email.

Just be very careful of phishing emails that you may get in the future.

Hi there. We have a boat listed for sale and yesterday recieved a text message asking what the lowest was that we would take for the boat but we had to reply to an email address. We tried replying to the text message but couldnt. Now today, we received an email back from them, offering a price for the boat if they could buy it asap, wanted an email address for paypal so they could pay us immediately, and then once its paid, they would contact us for pick up details as they have moved to New Zealand and will get a shipping company to pick our boat up. We are thinking SCAM for sure!! What does everyone think??? 🙂

Definitely a scam. The way it works is they send you an official looking email from Paypal saying the funds will be released once you can prove shipment. The scammers 'send' you an additional amount to forward to a ficticious shipping company (usually by Western Union Money Transfer). They don't want your boat, they just want your cash.

Obviously phishing emails are a concern but primarily they want you to send cash to their 'agent' by Western Union.
