Auspost Price increases: October 7

I was informed today that the postal prices will be going up for various products and services from 7 October 2013.

This will affect domestic and international services and includes some huge increases.

Eg.

To send a greeting card to the UK is currently $1.70 but will be $2.50 (or $2.60, I forgot due to shock!)

The information poster I saw stated that info is available from auspost.com.au/newprices but as of today that URL just diverted to the current price information.

I found (from Googling) that the announcement will be formally announced 16 September - which explains why the info isn't on the web site.

No surprise there, they raise prices twice every year. Mostly domestic earlier in the year and mostly international in October.

Thanks for the warning. I was just wondering if anyone could interpret this for me? I don't quite get what they mean (It's from the new prices page) I live in a regional area and sometimes sell items to people in other regional areas as well as close by. I've never seen these prices before? I've been paying $8.25... :

Local country parcels

Available to senders who reside or carry on business in any postcode area serviced by the delivery office or in a postcode area adjoining any of these postcode areas.

Parcels up to 500g	$4.15 per parcel
Parcels over 500g	$5.95 per parcel
Parcels over 500g (where delivery includes carriage by air)	$20.15 per parcel

Within 50km parcels

Parcels lodged at an office within 50km of the delivery office attract a fixed price.

Regular Parcels over 500g

$9.30 per parcel

They've always had Local Country parcel and Within 50km Parcel prices. The current price for over 500g Within 50km is $8.95.

The Local Country parcel rates only apply to some postcodes and is for parcels lodged at the same office that will deliver it.

This is the current price table from the July 2013 Postage guide.

Ah, okay, thank you 🙂 My postcode is included in the list. I'll have to go and have a chat with my local post office and see if I can get any of my costs down. Appreciate your reply.
