Sorry everyone, first time I`ve posted a question here, and obviosly hit the wrong button and only posted a title

My question is, can/how do I list items via US eBay. I have read that there are lower fees for us on AU eBay if we now list on US eBay, and I`d like to give it a go. Mianly due to what I think is a ridiculous "Auction Style" listing fee of $1.50 on the AU site, compared to about 30 cents on the US site

Am I able to do it by just logging into the US site ? I tried, but the listing seem to automatically default to an AU listing and charged at $1.50

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks Everyone 🙂

You should be able to list on US eBay by simply being logged into the site when you list - I'm not sure why it would default to an AU listing, so all I can suggest is perhaps ensuring you're logged out of the AU site in any other tabs, or maybe even try using a different browser for listing on the US site.

They do have lower insertion fees, but just keep in mind that FVF is also charged on postage, and there will be different policies your listings will be subject to.

I have found that one way to access the extremely attractive listing fees and fantastic incentives (that more than compensate for FVF that are levied on post) offered to US sellers on the US site is to register an id via ebay.com - and go through the prompts accordingly.

In any case, my advice is to log onto ebay.com and have a good read through the policies that apply to the US site, as buyer and seller disputes are managed quite differently, you must offer post to the US and there may be some $$$ involved in the US to AU conversion rate when you make payment of your US ebay seller account.

Thanks for that information, i will try again tonight. I do think I didn`t actually log out of my account the firt time i tried it. Will the US fees just be added to my normal AU fees, or will they show up seperate (not that it matters, just interested)

I don`t mind the FVF being added to the postage as well, if I`m going to sell more stuff, it will be irrelevent in the end

Your fees will be changed into Au$ and added to your bill in the usual way. You will have to use flat rate postage as you will not be able to use calculated as that only applies to the US postal service, you wiol also have to have proof of delivery, not just proof of posting as you do with Australian buyer protection. Your payments will all be in US$ so you will have to set your Paypal account up to accept that currency and will pay a conversion charge when you go to convert it to AU$. As you get 40 free listings on the au site it may be better to consider using more than one id if you want to sell more than 40 items a week.

Any BIN format I will continue with the AU site

For the 1st 18 months of being a seller on eBay it was with .com and things could not of been better, Top Rated Seller, an eBay store, listings front page around the world, bulk sales, 10c listing cost auction style, heaps free listings.

Then..............!

We were called interboarder traders and alians. Lost our Top Rate Sellers Rating accept in Australia. No more free listings. All listing were stopped accept for Australia and then for the last 2 months our 19th and 20th month not a single sale. Tried to find one of our listing on line but could not find a single listing on any eBay anywhere. No one told us anything. It took me 6 long weeks to figure it all out. Shifted our whole store to .com.au.

Not long after this the deal for a featured store came on line and from that platform we have rebuilt our store sales and have an income that we are very happy with again.

Beware of doing the .com eBay saler with an Australian address. The eBay .com computor does not like it. The eBay computor always wins!

I tried doing an auction list on the US site last night. Become to much hassle in the end. As it was going on the US site, I had to click on US postage service, and then AU showed up as international postage, which meant if I put it as $1.20, I would have to post it at that price to all international destinations

Unless I was doing something wrong

In the end I gave up, and paid the $2.00 AU fee ($1.50 auction + 50c BIN fee), which, I find a totally ridiculous price to list something as an auction.

The price of my items I auction, some will sell for more than $2.00 above my normal BIN price, so I win, others won`t make my normal BIN price, so I lose. But I like auctions as they`re entertaining for the bidder, and I think when someone loses, they look in your store to see what other similar products you have

Anyway, its the way it goes

Free mailing is the way we went.

But the .com system has changed even more since to stop an Australian address using .com

It all comes down to how is eBay .com going to process you if you are a nasty person and rip some one off for $10,000

Every listing I had to sign an agreement that let .com eBay come after me in Australia.
