Hi, I have just started selling again, mainly just items from my husbands collection of old auto parts, and I have a question about Paypal.Do items sent via Aust.Post with their new ( at least to me ) tracking system qualify for Paypal seller protection. In the past I used to fill out a frorm that has the buyers address on it it, now that you dont do that, do PP still accept that as proof of postage ?

You can use Click & Send to process your parcels and print shipping labels. When lodged over the counter you will receive a lodgement receipt and this is accepted by PayPal as proof of shipment.

https://www.clickandsend.com.au/home/NISS_frm_home.php?sz_Client=AustraliaPost

You can sign up to C&S and link to your eBay account. Once an item is sold and paid for you can login to C&S and the shipping info is automatically imported. You can use either your own packaging and pay the standard shipping rates or use Flat Rate satchels or boxes.

From October you'll be able to process and print your shipping labels for any Flat Rate items directly in eBay.

http://sellercentre.ebay.com.au/news/australia-post-labels

Thanks for that info, so it looks like I will have to use C&S in future, and the items that I have confidently sent recently, some with signatures required, will not be covered by PP .

No they are covered. I don't use click and send but if it is a parcel and you paid for it at the post office, on your receipt will be a tracking number (it is called article ID on the receipt). If you add this either on the sold item on eBay (add tracking number) or into paypal go into details on the transaction and if hyou scroll down you will find a link to enter tracking info and change status to sent.

I always think it is a good idea for prepaid satchels to make more certain addressee requirements are covered off without having to argue your case to paypal - that getting your PO to stamp a completed AP lodgement form seals the deal on your paypal coverage - and they can also be extremely valuable for pursuing compensation in a lost parcel investigation as they prove addressee details ti AP as well.

C&S is marginally cheaper than ordinary satchels and you can also use some of the AP boxes for larger and heavier things so is a no brainer as far as I am concerned.

If using regular satchels or ordinary parcel post I would always use signature required if I wanted to be sure of Paypal seller protection.

To be eligible for Paypal Seller Protection, you need a receipt from the post office with the date and buyer's postcode on it for proof of postage which is on the till receipt for parcels over 500grams

AP lodgement form on web is

http:\www.auspost.com.au/media/documents/registered-post-lodgement-receipt.pdf

Whilst the form was designed for only a select few products, the lodgement form does not exclude use of the form with other types of postal articles it can serve other purposes. I just write in type of service being used at the top or amend tick boxes accordingly - haven't had a problem with a PO yet, when I have been asked, I truthfully indicate I need it for my business mail register.

I attach the tracking label - present when lodging pre-paid product parcel, own parcels, registered large letters etc, post office stamps and voila - all you need to confirm address details, tracking details and post office date stamped to prove lodgement.

If anyone strikes an AP rep that won't accept AP lodgement form for other articles, I would suggest designing your own using the AP one as a guide, and present that for stamping as a document that forms part of your mail register.

Using lodgement forms or self designed mail registers that are stamped at lodgement also saves having to try and match PO print-out receipts with addressee details after lodgement.
