Meaning eBay would get their FVF on the increased auction sales as well. But the $1.50 makes it not viable to list the auctuion format for a possible 50/50 sale.

On the odd occasion when they give us 100 FREE auction listings we make sure we use ALL those.

More than half of our auctions end up in sales in this case. Definitley gives our monthly sales figures a boost, meaning their FVF as well.

So in our opinion they would earn more in FVF if the auction listing fees were lower.

Clarry this is very, very similar to my own experience as a seller.

Ebay definately got more dosh from me before the last lot of fee hikes and unacceptable 150% increase for Australian auction listings, unlike its massive giveaways and seller performance rewards on US site.

The market interference with buy-it-nows having to be 30% above an auction start is also costing ebay my $$$ Just can't see any winners with that trade restrictive practice.

The dosh they have lost from me is more than just listing and FVF, but as a buyer too. I have taken my buying $$$ elsewhere, until they start to introduce a fairer global trading base for Australian sellers.

Ebays life blood is their sellers. They have continued to put up their fees and they are almost 10% of the sale price. Yes they are a buisness and they deserve right to make money. I beleive they are a little too greedy and are limiting the profitablity of the sellers. I beleive that if they make their fees 1/2 the cost then they will get more than double the amount of business. I would list at least twice as much as i do. How do you think Woolies and coles became mega rich? Not buy gouging the few, but by billions of small amounts. I really think ebay is a good system for sellers and buyers alike but come on Ebay, how about making a reasonable amount of money, and let us all do the same?

Ebays fees are based on almost 10% of the amount a seller sells their item for and Woolies,Coles and the Aust Gov. charge a 10% GST on their goods and services so it's only fair that ebay do it also isn't it? Is there another competitor out there that can maybe compete along side ebay thus making the fees lower? Everyone has a choice and if your not happy with it then don't particapate it's as simple as that.

I have no idea how much you sell but when I start selling again in November (I only sell for half the year) I anticipate my fees being a lot less than they were the same time last year if I list and sell the same amount of items.

I don't think ebay is fair at all to Australian sellers compared to the US. But I suppose that is due to the lack of a decent competitor.

I don't understand the mentality of not providing at least some performance based rewards for good Aussie ebay sellers like the US get.

Lol I suppose we are rewarded through Best Match - bahahahahahaha

umm, they're a business.

Most people go into business to make money. That is the key objective of operating a business.

Gone downhill in what respect?

eBay are not our employers, they have no duty to "look after us" in the sense you suggest.

Similarly, we are not contractually bound employees, so we can leave if we don't like the way they do business.

These are the conditions under which eBay are prepared to operate their business. It's as simple as that.

and whilst persistence is a good thing, you have to know when to stop the bleeding and sometimes that means to amputate.

As I said above, clearly the opportunity cost in this case is favourable to you or you wouldn't be doing what you're doing (I hope).

I'm one of them. I wasn't here last year (was the year before that though) so now you're competing with at least one other seller for the consumer's dollar. hey now have additional choices as to where to spend their money.

Poorer Customer service, I agree that it is poor in some cases, but this is also subjective.

New stupid rules that they bring in, They may apper stupid to you, but to them they undoubtedly make sense (I hope) and they are the rules under which they are prepared to run THEIR business.

Ebay opperate under there own conditions which they manipulate to there own advantage. It's their business! As long as they comply with the law, they can operate it any way they choose to!

as simple as that Yes. Yes it is.

And if the advantage i get is to buy a couple packets of toilet rolls every week,Then i guess that is fantastic. ?????? If you want air freshener as well, then do something to increase your revenue. But trust me on this, complaining about how eBay chooses to operate their business aint gonna do it. Be proactive. if it's not worth it to you, then don't do it. That's how simple this is/
