why cant i leave negative feedback for non paying bidders , not sure it would stop them but at least the rest of us would know they dont pay, recently had a buyer with feedback of twelve , two were non paying but positive !!!!!! how is this positive im so fed up with these people , how do we know there non payers if all they get is a strike should be named and shamed and a black star next to each bid they place so we all know they might not pay .

You can't leave negative feedback for a buyer because eBay decided about 5 years ago that sellers would no longer be able to leave anything but positives for buyers.

If a member has 2 or more strikes in an up to 12 month period sellers are able to block them.

How would being able to leave negatives help a seller who uses BIN, or against a buyer who bids at the last moment?

Open a case, close it when you can, get your FVF back and relist. Simple.

How can strikes help sellers when they are removed or not recorded by ebay???

Must be different for powersellers.

A discussion there is talking about 100s of buyers being blocked for too many strikes. They must be the numpties? Or the prevalence of strikes getting overturned might be a bit less than your implication.

Sorry to ignore your question, sueken but l had to flee off to work. But someone has shown yous all so thats good.

Interesting to see all the blocks due to strikes but go one step further -

if you have a brand new buyer and the Requirements list shows attempted bidding on the same item.....you can usually guess its the same buyer.

They are pretty savvy now and know to make a new ID to get around the blocks.

I've had the odd one or two who have bought an item then told me they had to make a new ID so they could buy it due to my blocks.

And no,eBay do not do anything about it.

My report shows ONE NZ buyer who asked me to unblock them, which I did, for delivery to an Australian address.

My point was that the blocks seem to work for sellers here, regardless of what people who have a mountain view try to intimate.

Some sellers, even some good sellers, really used to milk the system years ago, and neg any buyer who gave them a neutral or neg. I saw it happen time after time (when I read up feedback) and it just wasn't fair.

Rather than sellers leaving neg feedback, what i think would be more useful would be if sellers were to report any unpaid item and if ebay found in the seller's favour, that that buyer then had a separate red negative score recorded next to their name.

That would be clearly visible to even the most novice ebayer.

Sort of like convicts with broad arrows down their back.

Sellers can already block buyers with 2 strikes, maybe they should be able to block anyone with even one strike. or if ebay gave out a red negative, anyone with one.

I know people on here say feedback means nothing to buyers or counts for nothing etc, but a highly visible, separate red negative score, next to a positive score, would shame some of them and alert sellers who have queries from these people.

Maybe that is why ebay doesn't do it, they want their commission on sales, even if they later have to pay it back, they have had it in their account earning interest in the interim.

Clearly, eBay is more supportive of buyers than sellers. It's utter rubbish that buyers can continue to win auctions and then not pay. The seller loses the other bidders, wastes time while the non-payer merrily continues to mess others around because it doesn't show up on their feedback score.

And while my policy is no returns or refunds and a buyer just changes their mind, eBay harasses me to refund. Not surprising that many sellers are choosing other sites.

If sellers opened unpaid cases against these buyers they would receive a strike. A few of those and they will not be able to bid on sellers who have their restrictions in place.

Yes this thread is 7 years old but the subject is still very relevant which many sellers lament and very unfair.

For crooked buyers aka 'online shoplifters' we leave NEGATIVE Positive feedback, BIG AND BOLD so it stands out should another seller check that buyers feedback. It is better than nothing.

This week one 'shoplifter' kicked us for 3 x INR's so we left standout feedback three in a row that gains attention. Interesting to see if the buyer requests his 'positive' feedback removed by eBay ?

If he does, you are the one likely to be sanctioned. How does a non-payer become an 'online shoplifter'? If they don't pay, they aren't getting the goods, surely.

All you are doing is inflating their feedback score.

if they bid last second or BIN, no seller has a chance to vet them anyway.

And the subject isn't relevant. That's the way it's been for years, eBay are unlikely to change it. Having a whinge might be cathartic, but it doesn't achieve anything.

Seems they did. You're the one that will get slapped, not the buyer.

If it on this account then the buyer has already been successful....there is no standout feedback left for anyone to see.
