Is express post now cover by paypal?

I know express post used to not cover by paypal seller protection but then I saw this.

I always use the click and send for my listing suggested by

so I'm protected

so anyone know where I can get a clarification whether express post can be cover by paypal protection?

here's what it said:

Proof of posting for the 5kg satchel and Express Post parcels when lodged at an Australia Post retail outlet. This is important if you're a seller using the PayPal online payment gateway to ensure that you qualify for PayPal seller protection.

Scan events on Express Post satchels and parcels for viewing on our online tracking tool (where available.)^

Correct if you use regular Express Post satchels, however, if you use the Express Post labels then that is acceptable proof for PayPal as it states the name and address of the buyer as well as it has a Post Office date stamp

You already have the answer there.

Covered for 5kg satchels and non-satchel express parcels. The tracking events don't prove recipient's address (partly because they only show to the distribution centre and partly because you hand write the address), so that is why the non-5kg satchels don't qualify.

There are ways to be covered apparently, but what is wrong with just using C&S? If somebody really wants it urgently, they really shouldn't be buying online. Or at least they should buy BINs with plenty of time to spare.

Nothing wrong with C&S, I think it would be nice to understand better with the seller and buyer protection. It seems to me this is a grey area. Am I right?

What a good idea.

I will buy a couple of dozen satchels, write the addresses of my customers on them, take photos, tell the buyers their items have been sent, successfully defend 24 item not received disputes using the photos as proof, re list the items then stick some address labels over the satchels and use them for sending the next 24 items (actually the same ones) when they sell.

Whilst express post is not my preferred method of posting, and the cost of platinum post is outrageous, if a buyer does request something to be sent by express, to keep post charges down I use a regular express satchel.

BUT .. to meet paypal protection requirements I complete the Australia Post lodgement receipt that is available from Post Offices, and is normally used for proof of registered post, extra cover insurance etc.

On the lodgement receipt I complete all the required details, cross out the platinum next to the express post tick box and stick the tracking label from the parcel onto the receipt.

I always lodge the express post satchel over a Post Office counter and get lodgement receipt stamped and dated, this serves as proof of postage and proof of addressee details. This meets paypal's requirements.

I have lodged express satchels by this method at three different Post Offices, I have only had one query from a staff member, and I just explained it was for my business records.

Mandy - as per the AP site there are certain express post products which can cover you under the Seller Protection Policy.

For the other express post services (ie the 500g and 3kg prepaid satchels) although you are not covered under Seller Protection at this stage Australia Post still pay out compensation up to a certain amount if an express post parcel goes astray.

but I got what you trying to say. (even you being ironic 🙂 )

The address will be on auspost's system when parcel is sent via C&S. The photo proof won't have record at the auspost. I could put something on top after took a photo.

so if it is send via registered it has to lodge with the registered form which will put the address to the system.

So am I understand it right, those registered sticker will not protected by seller protection?

So I can still be covered with the 500g or 3KG express satchel with the following

1. use one of the lodgement receipt (which normally used for registered post) - proof of addressee details

2. lodge over the counter so it will get scanned and stamped. -proof of postage

Am I correct?

I think if you use Express satchels you will be pricing yourself out of the market as they are going up again and will be even more expensive than click & send.

On the rare occasion a buyer has asked me for express I have given them the choice of a platinum express satchel or regular express if it is under $50, if it is over then I only offer platinum.

Other than that everything under $100 goes click & send and anything over goes registered.

I know what you meant. I only use C&S since it is become available. It's cheap and seller is protected.

This thread is to explore how / why / what kind of / express post can be protected by seller protection.

It reminds me of something. I used to use couriersplease for some of my parcel. The address was written on the box or on the satchel. The driver will then come and collect it and finally deliver and sign when receive.

From what I understand now. is or is it not cover by seller protection? because I can't provide a proof of address details. I used to take photo of the address and the tracking no.

From you understand of paypal seller protection, do I cover by seller protection?

I think Click & Send are much better than Express satchels

As an example, I sent a Click & send satchel before the truck left my AP at 11am last wednesday, it arrived in Sydney Friday to the buyer and i live in Country SA.

Express Post would take just as long so for the extra charge, it's not worth a cracker to me

I use my iPhone to video everything I drop into a post box. (along with a timestamp app)

It takes only a minute or two longer and I was recently able to successfully defend a paypal dispute with it along with the express tracking showing as delivered.

Not sure that the video really made a difference.

I probably would have won anyway since the dispute was opened a few hours after the order was made and tracking info updated in ebay. (pretty obvious scam)

The original reason for doing this was so I could show customers that had slow shipping or lost items that we really did post when we said we did.

As click & send is much cheaper than express and there is no question of it having Paypal cover I just don't understand why you would prefer to use express satchels. Some days it would take me half day to video every single parcel even if I had a phone with a camera which I don't.

The problem with express and red satchels is that while they can show in tracking there is nothing to show the actual address they are sent to. If Paypal start paying out for every express and red satchel with tracking it won't be long before the fees double!

Unscrupulous sellers will just send a random nothing to any address in the buyer's suburb then when the buyer asks where there item is the seller says it show in the tracking as delivered and either the buyer loses out big time and probably won't use ebay again or the buyer knows what they are doing and Paypal end up having to make a discretionary payment.

I wish you actually read what we were discussing. No one here saying they "prefer to use express satchels".

it's interesting how perception and assumption blind people's mind.

As I said before we are just trying to explore how / why / what kind of / express post can be protected by seller protection.

In short - to understand more about the paypal system.

I agree taking video for proof of address is too much. I wouldn't do it. C&S is good enough for me.

Simple to get addressee proof as required by paypal at point of lodgement.

How's that any different to C&S? They could just as easily send 'nothing' in a C&S satchel.
