How do you handle a buyer who is trying to negotiate cheaper postage? The postage calculator in my listing correctly listed postage costs. I'll only post overseas if the item is registered/tracked. Now the buyer has asked for the cheapest method available and when I went back and told her it's the same as what's listed she has come back and said with regards to PayPal covering me she doesn't need to pay for tracking because the customs number is enough and if I'm worried then she will take the risk whatever that means. I know what she's saying is not correct and I've tried to tell her that.

It's crazy. I want to cancel the transaction but she keeps going on and on about getting the postage she wants. Can I get eBay to cancel the transaction or do I have to deal with this person until she gives up and pays the postage she doesn't want to pay and then probably leave me negative feedback because she didn't get her way? She's totally wasting my time and is holding up goods someone else could buy.

The buyer is in no real position to dictate terms to you, or even push to re-negotiate them after purchase. Personally, I would only send them a message that acknowledged and answered their request (that is, I can appreciate the reasons why a less expensive postage service might be requested, but that the service and price quoted is non-negotiable), and would not budge from that. Sometimes, the more reasons you give to someone for a decision, the more they think they can argue against those reasons, so I prefer to keep some things short and sweet.

eBay is not likely to cancel the transaction on this basis, though. The only practical options are a mutual cancellation (in which the request is ultimately in the hands of the buyer), or - if they continue to refuse to pay the invoice - opening an unpaid item dispute after four days, which can then be closed after another four full days for a FVF credit (neither party can leave feedback for the other once a UPI dispute is closed, but it is still an available option if a mutual cancellation is done, and any neut/neg feedback left before a UPI dispute closes will almost certainly be removed if no payment is received).

to the best of my knowledge, all parcels now come with involuntary tracking foe postage purchased in Australia. Neither you or the buyer have a choice.

Stick to your listing and with what makes you feel comfortable.

Don't believe the buyer that they will "take the risk". They don't get to makle those decisions.

If the item is unpaid in 4 days from purchase, pursue an UID.

Close it 4 days later if it remains unpaid.

eBay will not "terminate" the contract for you just incase a customer might neg you. You will need a ciourt order or some other kind of arbtary process such as the UID to rescind the contract,

Keep ALL messages/correspondence. Just in case.

If you do not wish to send by another service just stop communicating with them and if they haven't paid after 4 days open an unpaid item dispute, they then either have to pay what you quoted or they will get an unpaid item strike.

Either they don't pay and they cannot leave you any feedback or they pay in full and while they might leave you a neg I would much rather have a little red dot on my computer screen than be put at potential risk of a chargeback.
