Non Payment by buyer

I recently had a situation where a buyer puchased my shoes but didn't pay. They didn't respond to any emails, and I opened a case against them, then closed it after the nominated time, still with no payment. I thought that the buyer would get this noted against their feedback by ebay, but I can't see any evidence of this. I can see that other people have a had a similar problem, both as buyers and sellers, but no reference to my case. And now I don't seem to be able to leave feedback myself.

Once a case has been closed and you have received your fees back then no feedback can be left,but the buyer will get a non payment strike against there account and you should also put them in your BBL

Welcome to the new improved Ebay where the level playing field is somewhat tilted. Two months ago I had the same thing happen from a guy who also had three other non paying notes in positive feedback. I managed to sell the item a month later but am not happy that this guy is still allowed on Ebay.

It is like insisting that they pay for registered post but then they leave you low ratings for postage cost and there is nothing you can do.

Well we all know that it's pointless in giving a negative positive feedback as this will eventually be removed by Ebay

had those 3 sellers followed the rules and guidelines, they could have opened an UID and had the buyer issued with strikes.

Then if you had your blocks in place to prevent buyers with more than 1 strike against their name, you would not have had to deal with them.

Your fellow sellers let you down and caused you inconvenience by not following appropriate procedure.

why would anyone want to falsely inflate anyone's feedback?

Those sellers that find buying feedback numbers important - maybe you could outline why the number of feedback that a buyer has received is meaningful to you.

Makes no difference to me as a seller if a buying feedback on an ID that is bidding, or makes a purchase is for 16 or 216 or 716 or 2016 or 10,016 transactions.

Makes no difference to me either so why would you ask me this question? All I was stating in my other post was that people shouldn't leave a negative comment in a positive comment as it will be deleted/removed

Interesting. I have yet to see mass removal of feedback left for non-payers by ebay.

Just had a peek at some of the feedback comments of the serial non-payers I have struck and I can see that all the non payment comments are still there from multiple sellers.

IMO it should not be assumed thats strikes are not given, as a seller can leave a feedback comment and then close a NP case which automatically issues a strike if payment has not been received is indicated in the process - whether feedback was left or not.

IMO it is also fairly simple to get a NP strike removed based on other posters reports.

you are correct. but if eBay are not aware of this, how do they remove the comment?

I also believe that the wording is "sufficiently negative" ie so that it can be objectively determined rather than subjectively.

(have a read of the feedback policy) it's up there on the left under customer support.

once case closes unpaid neither party can leave feedback. Note the time 4 days later when you can close the case, leave feedback at that time then close case immediately, problem solved. Don't leave feedback earlier though.

likewise, I had one buyer who I charged and she paid $8.50 for Australia Post 500gr satchel which Post Office charge $8.25 and she left negative feedback to say I charged excessive postage (.25 cent extra). I phoned eBay and they removed strike but I think it unfair that people can do this when sellers are allowed a small fee for packaging and handling of which my maximum is $1

I have my settings to 1 strike but this doesn't stop the so called NEW false members setting up accounts buying and not paying as there is always one or two maybe 3 sellers who will get stung first. I had one woman keep setting up with similar ID's but same address who purchased from me. 2nd & 3rd times when I saw address I notified eBay and they said "are you sure its same person" hello??? same name, same address, false non working phone number, does this answer your stupid question. New members should be made to prove ID (name & address) same as sellers need to go thru Bank and PayPal verifications

If they should in your opinion, then why don't you set up buyer requirements so that members have to go through phone verification? The tool is there, why not use it?

can you let us know how you do this? The reason I ask is that my settings are for "More than 1 strike in 12 months" and I thought that was the toughest non-payer setting you could have. If eBay have changed it to 1 strike then that is the toughest you can ever have.
