Why is a buyer allowed to leave negative feedback when a full refund has been given?

My one and only negative feedback has come from a buyer who didn't receive his CD's...so when he told me that the CD;s were missing... I REFUNDED him ALL his money ( including my "out-of-pocket" postage expenses)...so he hasn't lost a cent. I, however, have lost my CD's, plus postage cost....(due to his refusal to pay for "tracking"). I thought that when a buyer receives a FULL refund they couldn't leave feedback. Ironically, the reason why I immediately refunded the buyer's payment in full, was to avoid negative feedback...How wrong was I ?

Contact Ebay by phone and explain to them what has happened and they will remove the unwarranted feedback for you.

Zelly - there is no way eBay will remove negative feedback in this situation. For all eBay knows, item was never sent.

Apple - tracking is for seller protection, not buyer protection so there is no way to force a buyer to pay extra for tracking.

Why not? A full refund was given and the negative feedback given to the seller doesn't reflect one bit towards the actions of the seller,If the buyer didn't receive their item then the blame should be towards the postal service even if tracking service was not taken up.I understand that there was no seller protection but what has that got to do with the feedback given? How rude of the buyer giving negative feedback when they received a full refund,the buyer should be ashamed of themselves.IMO this buyer has scammed OP.

Well then if ebay won't remove the neg OP should do a follow up to the neg stating that a full refund was given but still received an unfair neg feedback.As OP has done all they could do in this situation and I would be putting the buyer on my blocked list.

The buyer had a non positive experience, they wanted their item not their money back. You say he refused to pay for tracking, he shouldn't have been able to. You say in the description that postage will be $7.20 registered so the buyer should have been able to assume that if it was sent as a large letter it would be registered (there is no registered parcel post) or if it was going as a parcel it would have adequate tracking, click & send is only $6.95 for under 500g.

If it was going as a letter and you agreed to not charging for registered then that is your error. Refunding does not mean the buyer cannot leave you a neg.

Disgusting leaving neg feedback after the seller did the right thing by them.

Regardless of whether you refund or not of course a buyer should be able to leave feedback. It is their experience of the transaction. In this case the buyer didn't have a positive experience didn't get the item and was inconvenienced.

But that is out of the sellers control.

And its not hard to see.

Negative feedback should never be given for something that is out of the sellers control.

That is not using the system properly.

If everybody gave negs like this 1 out ,There would be no sellers left on ebay.

Totally disgraceful.

OP had a money back guarantee in their listing so if the buyer doesn't receive the item then the buyer gets their money back.I think that because of this policy the buyer has scammed the seller as the buyer knew they could easily get away withit and even going to greater lengths and give a negative feedback just to throw any suspicion towards themselves.This is my opinion and I'm sticking by it,if anyone disagrees then whoopy doo.

How do you know it was out of the sellers control. we don't know just as the buyer doesn't know whether the item was even sent, was it out of stock, was it damaged in the post etc etc. The buyer only knows he didn't get his item and is not happy. end of story.

And how would you know the item was sent or not ?

Checking feedback generally answers that question.

And because of the fact that the seller was concerned enough to post on these boards answers your question.

Is there still a way of putting bad eggs like this on our bbl, or is this another example of a basic right ebay have taken away from decent sellers who would like to avoid unreasonable buyers such as this.

All I get is something like k***l in most cases and can't seem to be able to add them to my little list.

Any help would be 'preciated.

You have interesting feedback on feedback left page 3. So you had to get your money back through paypal did that seller deserve a neg? It might have been out of seller control?

I only leave a neg after i contact them many times,

And i only leave a neg if they are trying to rio me off.

And if you look closely ebay closed there account because i was not the only 1 that this person tried there filthy stunt on.

So until the day that you get a feedback record as good as mine and know what the hell you are talking about ,then i would not say too much.

This is not about trying to make me look bad for having an opinion.

And my percentage of negs left compared to positives is pretty good.

Because believe me many would have left negs for positives i left.

I'm not trying to make you look bad but you are in here preaching how buyers shouldn't leave feedback for sellers if they get their money back. You got your money back so why in your book is it good for some and not others then.

I have no problem with you leaving feedback at all as I totally agree with it as you didn't get your item and you were inconvenienced.

By the way nothing wrong with my feedback. Actually mine is propabaly better than yours 1 neg in over 2300

For 1 paypal gave me my money back not the buyer,so totally different situation.

And i do not see any negs on my account.

only 2 neutrals which should not have stuck.

If a seller gives me my money out of there own free will ,after they make an error,Then iwill not give a neg.

But if they do not respond or act like ###### Then it is a totally different story.

This is about the seller and how they conduct themselves ,not the paypal transaction.

And honestly this is no competion ?
