Hey Paddy

We have been through this as well, more times than I care to remember

You can scream about it until you're blue in the face, it won't make any difference. As the PP said, unless you have taken out insurance on your parcel, you are screwed. They will only reimburse the actual postage cost if you have kept the receipt.

We had parcels that we sent through click and send, some were in transit still after a few weeks and never arrived at their destination. A/Post pretty much admitted they lost the parcel but refused to compensate for anything but the actual postage cost. And only if I kept the recipt which I didn't. The fact I paid for it through my paypal account, we had the tracking ID and the A/Post tracking shows it still wasn't delivered, didn't count for jack, they wanted a paper receipt

Good Luck

Hi Paddy

I recently had a similar problem and they only refunded the postage cost They will not refund the cost of the contents of the parcel unless you've taken ou extrat insurance or registration even though the parcels have tracking numbers and it can be clearly seen that the parcel was lost by AP

In saying that though, I must admit that over the years, I've only had a couple go missing

They say they will not refund the item cost but I believe their is an Ombudsman type service for the postal service and a complaint to them often results in a discretionary payment.

If you want to make sure you can make a claim for a full refund then you have to pay for signature on delivery or insurance.

I have had a couple of good outcomes and secured compensation for missing parcels after responding to APs letters to advise me that compensation will not be paid by responding to AP in writings seeking more clarity regarding their decision not to pay compensation.

May not fly everytime for others, but if anyone wants to give it a shot, key points I included in my emails to AP were:

1. The tracking scans of the parcels barcode sent demonstrated the mail articles were lodged, yet no delivery scans were recorded.

2. The terms and conditions of the postal services used clearly stated that AP had discretionary power to refund up to $50 plus the price of post product used, if lost or damaged.

3. The reason for non-payment of the discretionary compensation by AP was not outlined in the letters received from AP.

4. A request for a further written response(s) from AP that clearly outlined the exact reasons why it had been determined by AP that discretionary compensation would not be paid.
