Child Restraints that do NOT meet Australian Standards being sold on Ebay

Hello,

I was just wondering who is responsible for allowing so many child restraints to be listed on Ebay, that do NOT meet the Australian Standards or they are extremely old and should be destroyed and not sold ?

These are dangerous and are potentially risking the lives of our innocent babies and children !

I have been sending messages to Ebay for a long period of time and they do not reply or care to get back to me with this very important issue !

Can anybody help with this very concerning problem please ?

As far as the second-hand ones go, it is the same as buying them at a garage sale or market. Unless you know the complete history of the seat (eg. if it came from a relative and had not been in a crash), do not buy it. But the trouble is, people do.

Yes I do know all of these, as I actually work in the industry.

My problem is that Ebay have these policies etc, which clearly mean nothing to them, when I look and see so many people selling non compliant seats that do not meet the Australian Safety Standards seats

Very hypocritical !!

I want to know how they get away with it ?

As this practice is Illegal !!!

They clearly have no ethics or morals where children and babies are concerned ....

I am not sure how you can tell that goods sold on eBay do not comply with Australian Standards. Are they actually advertised as such?

As you work in the industry, surely you could have reported those traders who do not comply with Australian Standards.

How does eBay get away with it?

Can you tell us which ones are illegal please. It helps if we know what you are talking about. However, this board is specifally not ebay related.

Hi,

As I said I work in the Nursery Baby Industry so I can spot a non compliant non Australian seat as soon as I see it ..

I have been reporting these seats to Ebay for more than 12 months and they do nothing about it whatsoever ..which is disgusting .. this is the safety of children we are talking about ..

Ebay print these policies and procedures and do NOT adhere to them ...

They are taking part in Illegal sales of these seats.

If you have a look on the Baby Carseats section

There are plenty that come up

They are listed as Maxi Cosi Isofix or there are also some convertible carseats as well.

I messaged one woman by the name of beautifulbriana and she was beyond rude and told me she didnt give a ____ what happens after she sells it ..... such a sad person indeed !!!

I had a peep at the listings for the others but too many to go through for me to understand what the problem is. There is an option to only search Australia, plenty of the maxi cosi isofix in international choice.

If the seller is an Australian Business, why haven't you contacted the ACCC? If the seller is a private individual, they can sell whatever they want as long as it complies with eBay Policy.

i dont have the problem another poster does, however, we would never buy a second hand baby item in the first place. a bit like buying a second hand bike helmet hey. some fools still do.
