Works out at about a 17% increase, whihc by the way is less than a year after the last large price hike. Joys of having a monopoly , charge whatever you like! Unfiortunatley us sellers will be criticised for charging too much post!

Interesting that the only eBay flat rate going up is the 500g satchel. Back to the price they had after last year's initial increase.

C5 prepaid envelopes are going from $1.40 to $1.70. In line with the increase in standard stamps, but a bit rude. Mind you they haven't gone up for many years.

C5 prepaid envelops is a big increase. If you send a large letter upto 125grams it costs $1.40. Might need to invest in a scale.

Yep, me too.

Not to mention that C&S has tracking to the door, whereas standard satchels require a heap of paperwork to ensure seller protection.

And for the standard satchels to be any cheaper you have to outlay $722 up front. To save $8, which can be amortised over 100 sales. I know interest rates are low, but surely the opportunity/time cost is more than $8.

For those whose time is worth anything.

I've already done that, but don't leave it too long before you do it. I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and they only arrived yesterday. Your PO might be more efficient than mine though.

Re price increases with Aus Post

As explained to me while having a problem with Aus Post is how parcels are funded.

My understanding is that revenue from the parcel business is retained by the country of payment.

The receiving country has to pay the cost of delivery after it lands in the destination country. tHEY WILL supposedly gain the benefit of retaining money from export items. With a level playing field it would balance out.

but have a think about how many items you have posted to China lately !!!!!!!!

As a result it means that Australia Post has to increase its services considerably to handle the huge amount of increase in incoming items.

The only source for this is in domestic postage hence the regular huge increases for local customers.

WHAT THIS MEANS IS THAT THE AUSTRALIAN CUSTOMERS ARE SUBSIDISING THE CHEAP IMPORTS CURRENTLY FLOODING INTO THE COUNTRY.

This also explains the difference between prices for carriers like DHL, TNT etc and Postal services from China.

I recently looked at a purchase from China and costs were byChina post $10.00, DHL 100 TNT 106.

for China Post it was probably the cost to get it on the plane and Aus Post would cop the rest.

Hi,

Just regarding what is know as the "eBay shipping platform" I really hope that it truly reflects and is applied at the proper time (i.e without delay) so sellers don't get ripped off because EBAY get's it's pricing wrong to buyers.

So, for example, if someone looks at one of my items and gets a price for postage to their P/code. then, after 31/3 decides to buy will the increased postage cost be reflected in the final price to the customer?

I hope someat EBAY can answer this...

Ask eBay then, not other members.

From previous experience it can take eBay from between -4 to +8 weeks to adjust their postage costs to align with AP.

I forgot to mention too....we attach the PP satchel label to Aus Post's lodgement sheet which they stamp when we lodge the parcels. That way we have proof of lodgement to an address.
