Seller postage obligations

Where do I find info on sellers postage obligations. A seller posted a fragile item to me with poor packaging. There was no way it was going to arrive in one piece.

It is up to the seller to pack items adequately that they will not damage in transit.

If an item arrives broken send photos of the packaging and the broken item to the seller.

If they do not offer to refund and you paid with paypal open a dispute for item not as described and escalate to a claim.

When paypal ask you to return it too the address they give you at your cost, if the item is too damaged you can call paypal and tell them it is too dangerous to post and they might give you a refund there and then.

It depends on the damage and if it is glass then it is too dangerous to put in the post.

It is up to the seller to provide adequate packaging for the items to arrive safely to their destination by post. I tend to overpack. It always amazes me how scanty some seller's packaging can be!

Some years back I received some small glass jars of face creams & liquids in a 500g satchel without any inner packaging whatsoever. The parcel guy stood on my doorstep with a tinkling & dripping but quite nice smelling package held in 2 fingers!

I had no help from the seller who refused to acknowledge the lack of packaging problem & eventually Paypal asked me to return for refund. It took 2 phone calls to Paypal & a signed letter faxed through from my local PO manager to say the items were unsafe & unfit for postal transit to return before the dispute was found in my favour & I was refunded.

On the other end of the scale I once received a large 1930's uranium glass bowl jammed into a 3kg satchel with one sheet of newspaper as packaging from Tas to Melb & it arrived intact!

I lived in Poland for a while.

I bought a beautiful vase and wanted to keep it, so I went to the central Warsaw post office to ship it back here.

They had run out of boxes, but gave me the box that the boxes came in.

I tried to explain bubble wrap, but that was just a giggle for them...so I wrapped the vase in two garbage bags, with a lot of air, and then jeans around that.

It made it in one piece after four months surface mail.

Sometimes, all it takes is a little care 🙂

I was specifically addressing a particular one.

But it's apparently a fountain. I couldn't see much difference between it and a pool, frankly.

It looks like a lane pool, I agree.

I know the event.

but...a lot of things happen in major pools that have the same result, if not the same method of getting there.

so not really for the sqeamish.
