Ebay have switched off my lights again!

Well it's happened again....

We have gone from the normal 5 to 10 sales a day, 5 to 10 ebay questions a day, to zero sales, zero questions, and no views!!

This happened less than a month ago and lasted 5 full days.

Then as if someone hits a switch we are back on and selling again.

I have just created a 7% off sale on some items, trying to see if I can trigger some sales and have the lights turned back on.

Anyone have any suggestions? Really don't want 5 days of zero sales, particularly coming into the weekend.

OMG! do women really pay over $150 for 50g of some cream that they think is going to hold back the march of time?

I would just use some cheapo moisturiser and spend the rest on a bottle of gin, I am sure I will look so much younger in the mirror after I few G&Ts :^O:^O:^O:^O:^O:^O

That is if I needed to do anything but you cannot improve what is perfect :^O:^O:^O:^O:^O:^O

Beauty-savvy it is simply our turn. I haven't had a sale for 8 days and that has never happened before, and I have been selling for more than 10yrs.

I see posts like this all of the time. I think we must all have our lights switched off for a few days every 3 months.... but they forgot to turn mine back on 😞

Thanks Austeam - sorry to hear you are in the same boat

I do accept that it may be our turn again (even though it feels as though my turn comes around very often - once a month rather than every 3 months), a few days of zero sales would be tolerable, but over 5 days is torture!

my sales have been declining since last week and over weekend, bounced back a bit Tuesday, but past 48 hours has been horribly dead :_|

Yes it has been very slow, so slow that I have not watchers and hardly anybody looking on many items.

Hi All, I am finding the same thing, all but one of our stores (3) is way down on volumes of sales. But, on the flip side, our B&M is back to where it was 5 or so years ago, and treading water nicely ATM. Its interesting to hear that quite a lot of our customers will not buy off ebay any more due to bad experiences, we actually hear it quite a few times daily now. Its sad, used to be an incredible place:-(, and the fact that our real life store is doing well, & picked up pace, shows that you cannot just blame the economy for a downward trend in sales. Hope sales do pick up soon & in time for Xmas:-)

I find the same thing. Ill go weeks no sale, but then all of a sudden ill have 2 or 3, sometimes from the same state. Im in the process of getting some more stock, but if even the bigger sellers are having this problem sometimes i wonder if trying to build an ebay business is even worth it anymore.

PJ needs tickets because stickers keep falling off the hessian.

Who needs to buy expensive materials like silk when you can get hessian for free at the local fruit shop.

I must admit though that no one looks as good in hessian as you do.

ON TOPIC.

Switches are definitely being flicked or ebay is reflecting the real world just now. B & M's are also giving stuff away to generate cash flow.

Hi Term, yes we nearly gave the B&M away about five years ago, and were going to just go online. Thank the Good lord above, we remained open, never thinking for a moment, that it would revert back the other way. For us, it has been the case of not putting all our eggs in the one basket. So now, we have a Website, ebay and the B&M. Although our website has only been in place for about three months, it is well in front of Ebay sales already. Each one experiences its ups and downs, but can you guess which one is the most fluctuating;-)

Great that you kept your B & M.

Despite the technophiles' predictions, small B & M's will survive

and flourish.

I didn't have any choice in closing mine. It just wasn't viable.

Would love to jump in again at some point.

Thanks licoricebabyandfabmama, just read the article you mentioned...............very interesting and I agree with the comments in the article. eBay know this is happening, it is intentional and will probably occur more and more.:-(

At least I'm not alone - it appears to happening very often and to every store.

I have just read that report on ecommercebytes & it was very interesting and so were some of the comments & replies to it.

It propably deserves a topic of its own as it does explain some of the unusually trends in selling.

The trend of drop in sales can be directly related to your asking price. Sell it cheaper. Why do sellers not understand this? People are on ebay looking for bargains NOT looking for overpriced stuff that the buyer can usually get at a similar price in a BM store.
