YOU WILL not know their correct address until they pay

when they go thru checkout THEN and only THEN do they decide to which address they want the item sent.

Often that is not their registered ebay address, but can be their work address, a family friend, whatever.

I have items sent to any one of 6 or so different addresses, just by picking the Shipping Address in Paypal

that is the ONLY address that covers you, as the Seller, with PayPal Seller Protection.

just be patient. many many bidders place a bid in the last 60 or even 30 seconds of an auction end

Not sure - but I read around where some members use them - they place bids for you - some external program you download from the internet?

I figure you tell them how much you want to bid and what you want to bid on etc and then they submit the bid on your behalf.

I just googled "snipe tool" just then and got a heap of hits for free downloads that claim to be ebay specific

Not game to post links incase that's advertising and the Mods zap me, so maybe just have a google?

I like sniping manually, so never bothered to investigate before

OMG, I did exactly the same thing!!! I didn't realise until the next morning when I saw the notification that I'd won it. I thought it weird that I got it when I only bid $35, when I have seen them sell for over $200. Then I saw my maximum bid amount.......$35,000!!!! Thankfully it sold for $52, so it wasn't so bad. I nearly died because I would've had to sell my liver to pay for it otherwise. I have nearly done it a few more times, but thankfully noticed the 5 or SIX figures before I hit the second button. One time I did submit with 6 figures, but fortunately had enough time to find the cancel bid page (it had 3 minutes to go). I felt bad because by doing that I saw what the highest bidders maximum bid was, which was more than I was prepared to pay, so I entered a bid under that so I didn't risk getting into trouble by retracting a bid and not rebidding. I've bought LOTS off that seller and I know he sits and watches his auctions finish so I think he would've seen the higher bid, then watch it go down again. I didn't mind letting him get the slightly higher amount as he's looked after me plenty of times.

I really shouldn't bid in the dark when I'm 3/4 asleep. Those comma's and full stops look the same through tired eyes LOL!

yep - it was the commas and decimals that got me LOL

and I have a back lit keyboard! so even less of an excuse..

but I did it..

ya liver you reckon?

*wonders what mine would be worth*

fortunately, it worked out not too bad for both of us, eh?

not too much damage LOL

but wow - I really was pretty horrified for a while there.. - all it needed was for someone else to make a mistake, or to maybe even bid say $200 even thinking THAT was a big bid to beat the snipers iykwim

and I woulda been done for..

I know a few hundred isn't as bad as $53K - but that was still a whiole lot more than I really wanted to pay for that item. (was just a jumper - fair enough, a pretty nice designer label jumper - new with tags etc, so when releqased in store was probably in the hundreds of dollars) - but it certainly didn't mean THAT much to me

the really nice thing about that transaction was that when settling up with the seller (had bought a few things), I mentioned my error - you know, just to give em a smile (wasn't complaining etc) and they offered to cancel the sale for me.

Thought that was nice of them.

I didn't though.

wasn't their fault I screwed up - but maybe I would have if it went for $53000 LOL

Mine was one of the rarer Matchbox cars, in VNM condition in a box, so I got off VERY lightly! He sold one the same the next week and it went for $220. I didn't realise at that stage you could cancel transactions, so I would've been going into hiding I think!

I was thinking about this today and the unlikely scenario that I did win it for $53K...(or some other ludicrously rediculous price.

i reckon, if the seller wanted to play hard ball and make the transaction stick that I would have offered them the $250 to cover their FVFs, and wore the strike on that one.

They couldn't take it to court as it would be too easy to have a contract such as that recinded, so a strike would be about the worst that could happen there
