How can a buyer buy item@buy it now price and pay with Paypal then not answer any further contacts I.E..invoice-e-mails -e-bay responses-contact buyer-in regards to pick-up or delivery of large item and 7 days later files an unortharised credit card payment dispute.I thought you had to log into Paypal with your details to pay for a puchase.I also thought once an item was bought as a buy it now price it was a contracted sale. Now a chargeback dispute is opened with paypal and the seller cant do anything till it is resolved- The e-bay fees for selling and listing and the paypal fees leave the seller out of pocket plus the item is packed and loaded for delivery once Paypal clears payment and states the item can be delivered -should,not the seller be re-imbursed for his costs- My belief is the buyer changes his mind and makes up a story to get out of a purchase which is un-fair to the seller. I dont wish to sound like a winger but if you have loaded the item on the truck ready for delivery and it sits for a week while the buyer wont communicate it very disapointing to say the least-question is who wins from here the seller or the buyer-

I think someone already answered this when you added it to another thread.

You don't have to log into PayPal to pay via credit card, but you can pay via credit card THROUGH PayPal. Next time you go to pay something with PayPal, you will notice down the bottom of the screen an option to pay via credit card through PayPal. That is probably what they did. I used to pay that way prior to opening an account.

It may've been their credit card, with no enough funds to cover the transaction. Some people will buy things, then find the same thing cheaper, so will ignore the first one they bought thinking it will just go away. I don't know why they do it, when they can just contact the seller and let them know what's going on. As a seller there is not much you can do apart from let the dispute run its course, then add the buyer to your blocked buyer list. If you try to fight it, you will get charged $15 for the privilege. There is another thread outlining what happened when I seller tried to fight it. As for wanted to be compensated for lost time, not going to happen. You just have to wait and then relist.

So how does a poorly researched and ill considered action by a stupid buyer make it acceptable for an honest seller to suffer the costs and waste of time involved in a seriously overpriced marketplace.
surely this area needs to be replaced with an honest marketplace where people are responsible for their actions.

time to return this marketplace to a level playing field and make buyers responsible for their actions and reduce exhorbitant fees to a realistic level.

agreed and if that replied as soon as invoice arrived you could then possibly sell to another bidder or at least move on and not stay in limbo for 7 days!

Glad you won the case. Now, I hope you have added them to your blocked buyer list. I also hope that given that buyer only had 2 feedback that you also have buyer requirement blocks in place. If you don't have those blocks and aren't sure how to set them up, sing out and I will send you the message I sent to my friend the other night if you would like, on how to set them up. Having those blocks in place may have prevented this buyer from buying your item in the first place.

Also, in future, don't leave feedback until the buyer has taken the item because now they have that nice green dot to show for their efforts. It's all a learning experience!
