Why would eBay remove my Nintendo game?

Hi! eBay recently removed an innocent auction I had on eBay, it just an original Nintendo game cartridge. It was just Metroid NES game NTSC format. It was $39.99 with free postage. I emailed eBay and all I got in response was a link to the copyright infringment page. Any ideas? Because I do not understand lol. thanks!

eBay has a program called VeRO that involves the removal of items that appear to infringe on copyright, which means that your listing was reported as doing so. This can be by an eBay member or the rights holder.

you need to follow any instructions in the email you received, if you want a chance to relist it.

that can be by convincing eBay that the copy you have is genuine.

some rights holders do not like any of their merchandise to be sold on ebay, too.

another reason for removal can be if you were using photos or text from another listing without permission, or photos from the retailers website etc., too. That falls under the same copyright program (see the link)

if the reasoning is not clear you can ask eBay for a clarification.

Did you take those very professional looking photos yourself? If not and they are not of the actual copy you are selling then that could be why it was removed. For second hand things the first photo must be of the actual item. You can use additional photos if you have the permission of the rights owner but it must say that they are not of the actual item.
