When eBay and Australia Post have recently increased their charges and eBay and Paypal commissions now cover total sale price including postage cost, the sellers margin for low value items is eroded significantly. When eBay and Australia Post charge fixed rates for flat rate satchels or boxes, why cannot these be integrated into the postage + handling charge for the buyer to pay?

There is a seperate provision for pack n handling in listings.

Many members add 1,2 or 3 dollars in to cover those costs.

I always add the cost of packaging and handling either into the cost of the item or as part of the postage cost. I also now include the percentage ebay creams off the top of postage.

If buyers don't like that, they will shop elsewhere and who would blame them - however many are happy to pay for the added safety of using ebay and paypal so don't mind paying a little extra. In other words, they are paying for a service that comes with buying their goods.
