Has anyone else had an influx of whinging buyers lately?

Just generally fussy, and picky about items.

I've had numerous buyers in the last few days, complaining about items they bought. Wanting to return earrings because "they don't feel right"... And then getting snarky because I can't accept returns on worn jewellery.

My favourite was a buyer who messaged asking to return an item, because they didn't feel a connection with the necklace?? Then left glowing feedback about it??

Some seem to be complaining just for sake of it.

I managed to get my first Neg and a Neutral in a matter of days. The neg was relatively justified though, the item was faulty, however the issue was sorted with the buyer 2 months ago, then one day they just felt like leaving a neg. It wasn't rude or unnecessary so I accept their choice in leaving me a red dot.

Maybe it's just me I don't know.

Something in the water maybe. Winter blues??

I had a couple of non-payers last few weeks who appear to be eBay newbies. They're actually the hardest to get along with since they don't know eBay policies, nor do they care.

I had one who didn't pay, ignored a follow up message, then when I opened a unpaid item case, they decided to respond and proceeded to tell me they would report me. Not sure what for or to who. But it made them feel important.

They got a strike in the end, tried to purchase again, and asked why they were blocked??

Some of them are just hilarious.

Somehow, I don't seem to attract very many buyers with odd-ball requests, I had one tell me it was silly to charge for postage when we're in neighbouring suburbs, but I charge for postage because I post everything (don't do pick-ups, and explained all that in my reply).

I did have one buyer purchase a regular store item, which had a full, thorugh description of all the materials I used to make it, then nearly two weeks later request a custom piece to match it, so used all the same materials, all stated in the description... After some communications a couple of weeks later, when I explained a few things about how to maintain their pieces, they told me they were allergic to alloy and wouldn't have bought them if they knew there were alloy components (well, they would have known if they read the description, either time, not to mention that saying you're allergic to alloy is like saying you're allergic to soup... o_O ).

You can blame the BIG online companies for the return policies and getting buyers into the habit of being fussy. My wife is a bad example, wil buy 10 things and return 9 of them....free postage of course.

I once had a seller tell me something didnt work. I said to return it but he wanted a refund first. I refused, he gave me a negative and I never herad back form him again

I often get people asking if i would accept some silly price.

I might sell something in a mixed lot, and of course they only want 1 item and expect me to pull it apart and relist that 1 item just for them. Honestly I think some people just want to make it hard for others. They are usually the ones that will complain about the item once you have bent over backwards for them anyway.

Thank goodness, the vast majority of buyers are good, genuine people that don't expect the item to be brand new when it's listed as "used".

And boy, isn't it annoying when people leave bad feedback because they were too lazy to read the description.

I had a customer who did the right thing and asked (prior to bidding) if she could pickup to save on postage. (She lived about 60kms away). I agreed.

She then suggested we could meet at a shopping centre 40kms away from me on a Saturday morning as her kids played sport there. I said I didn't drive.

She then worked out the bus schedule for me - there and back !!!

So to save her a whopping $7.60 postage she wanted me to spend nearly $15.00 on bus fares and waste half a day travelling.

I thanked her for the Bus Schedule and told her that I was happy for her to pick up at my address if she won.

Thankfully she didn't bid.

I did have someone ask me to personally deliver something before. Luckily they aksed before purchasing. As I kindly declined. It was a $5 item. With shipping included and they lived 150km away.

In regards to rediculous offers. Occasionally I have pricey items available. $350 etc. I get people offering $1. I put them on the block list straight away.

I had one customer whose item didn't show up, so I refunded her. The item arrived 3 weeks later and she repaid. Most customers are lovely. But the strange ones do stand out from the crowd.
