International buyer (suspect)

I'm new please be nice 🙂

Even though an item that I listed, said that I only ship to Australia, someone used *buy it now* from the USA. I don't trust the source, he/she wants me to contact them outside of ebay mailing. I've just contacted them through ebay question, and invoiced them. My questions are, how do I stop being from overseas bidding on my item? and do buyers have access to my email address outside of ebay.

Go to your My eBay > click the ACCOUNT tab > select SITE PREFERENCES > BUYER REQUIREMENTS, click "show" & then EDIT

Select - Bidders who have a primary postage address in a location I don't post to

BUT you must select countries you do not post to while listing

While you are doing the requirements you may as well tick everything to block bidders who:

-Have received 2 Unpaid Item strike(s) within 12 Month(s).

-Have 4 Policy Violation report(s) within 6 Month(s).

-Have a feedback score of -1 or lower.

-Haven't gone through phone verification. - Only apply this block to buyers who have a feedback score of 5 or lower.

What was it? I cannot see any sale for BIN in your history. The only one that I can see sold on the 28th and it had 6 bids, and FB was left.

Personally, I would have told the buyer (through eBay message) that I do not post internationally, but if they really insist the postage will be $500. If they leave NEG, I am sure eBay will remove it considering that they should not have bid on item that is listed as posting to Australia only.

No they don't have access to your email address unless they pay using Paypal then of course they will have whichever email address you use for payments.

Depending what the item is it could be a 'Nigerian Scam' and at best what they are after is an active email address to target later and at worst getting the item without paying a cent.

If it is an item like a camera, phone, laptop etc and it pans out like that follow Go-tazz's advice here

Go with your instincts as that's a classic way that scammers operate.

They'll either pay with a stolen credit card or Paypal account or they send a false Email telling you that payment has been made,(there are also other deceptions they use).

Don't send them anything.

Thank you for the brilliant responses. I assume the user that bid has his/her account accessed by a third unauthorised party.
