Feeback is completely Voluntary. Yes, it's always great to recieve Positive FB. Think of it this way, if they don't leave feedback, no damage can be done. 🙂

I wouldn't say it's unethical, but I will say it's probably not a good idea. There are some sellers who will successfully request feedback, usually in a polite and subtle way, but for others, it doesn't always work out like they had hoped.

Feedback is voluntary, so you will find many members do not like to feel obliged to leave it. I understand how important it can be to a seller when you're starting out, but while you may get a few more points, you may also get a few unwanted comments, or even defects, from buyers who weren't pleased with the request (I'm not saying it would be fair of the buyer, but it can and does happen),

eBay send a feedback reminder to buyers around 4-6 weeks after a transaction (unless the member has feedback reminders switched off), so if they are going to be receptive to a reminder or request, they'll probably do it after that.

I can understand wanting to get your feedback score up there and I was in the same boat.

To keep my customers informed of the progress of their order I started sending emails when their order is posted (usually the same day). In it I was asking them to leave feedback when they were happy with the order. I found I was getting a lot more feedback but it was just things "it arrived safely" or generic ebay feedback.

Before I started doing this I was getting more genuine coments about my products such as "lovely pooduct and super fast postage" or "Will definetly buy again". More personal coments about the products so I have taken it out of my emails now.

For me more is not better. I want genuine compliments about the products I make which I hope will influence others to buy.

Sometimes sellers send a message with there item saying "please leave positive feedback". I first thought it was annoying because, a- I got the item. And b- that item was what I wanted. I believe education of both buyers and sellers is the key ( I'm not the only one who thinks so). In an effort to educate buyers I have told them of these boards. ( very polite I mite add). One of my buyers even thanked me for giving them a quick tour. If they use these boards, or just even read them, id think it will make them a good buyer and a good seller.

might be just my opinion but i don't really give a stuff about feedbacks..if they leave one great..if they don't it might be a good thing. The main thing to me is I am doing the best I can do in describing, shipping and leaving feedback. There is NO way you can make everyone happy. Some people are just born **bleep** off...I personally do not ask for a feedback but I leave one anyways. I am a firm believer what goes around comes around at some stage. I was also brought up with the phrase..the more you stir a rotten egg the more it stinks lol. In 100 sales we have gotten 2 neutrals..the last was 6 months ago. I found life went on.
