Yes ... I used to get them every couple of weeks. They don't really encourage sellers at all. Now with the new rules coming in ... buyers can return items, etc etc .... with no comeback for us.

I agree with buyer protection, but it seems to be going overboard at present.

If they drive the sellers out ... there won't be anything to buy !!!

I had a big let down with a buyer last week .... asked for an extention because she wanted bulk postage ... great communicator UNTIL the last sale .... then disappeared completely .... no payment ..... no contact. AND I can only give her positive feedback !!!

I'd love to hear from anyone who has an alternative .... I really enjoy selling on eBay, but find it's getting harder all the time.

not so much as an alternative dot but a sideline. once the transaction is paid for and you've paid your fees to ebay. I put my business card in the parcel and say if they'd like to buy a similar item direct with guaranteed sale and % off the cost due to no eb overheads contact me on my email address.

I only write that when payment has been on time or if they have emailed through the course of the transaction so I know they check their emails on a regular basis. and not for everyone as its too time consuming.

then you're not breaking ebays rules and they appreciate your offer. an alternative is gumtree which I know is hit and miss but so is eb these days.

I hope you lodged UPIs on every one of her unpaid purchases so that you'll at least recover your FVFs, and she'll receive the strikes she so richly deserves. That might make it a bit more difficult for her to do the same thing next time to those sellers who have non-payers blocked. BTW, make sure you put her on your BBL immediately.

My pleasure. I'm just glad you did everything that was necessary to prevent her from doing it again. Incidentally, changing her ID won't help any more as the name will automatically change in your BBL as well, so the only way they can bypass your blocks now is to create a completely new ID.

some do bp, and they buy time and time again, particularly overseas buyers, where if listing each sale through ebay you'd pay 10% also on the higher international post costs.

Actually .... the one I had a couple of years ago got away with it for 3 months. There were about four of us (sellers) sending warnings to each other when she cropped up again. eBay eventually caught up with her via the FRAUD SQUAD.

The thing that annoys me is that we are not protected from these types and can't even give negative feedback .... but a buyer can just decide they don't want something and say it didn't arrive, or it was faulty. I must say, I have some really great buyers and (cross fingers) things have been really good in the last year or so .... (shouldn't have said that, should I ?)

Thanks again

The store holders got 10,000 free listings recently, but prior to that it had been a couple of months since they had any. Yes, there had been some free listing promotions for stores, but they were for items over $100.

Us non store people were getting free listing promotions every couple of weeks. The non store sellers get far more free listing promotions than the stores.

They are a random offer and shouldn't be relied upon or expected. If the 40 free ones a month aren't enough, open a store.

I agree to a point.

I sell small items at a fairly low price, and not a high profit. I have enquired about opening a store, but (as I prefer to sell auction and not BIN), am told by eBay I can't. I would be more than happy to pay a monthly fee, but it just wouldn't be worth while for me. I think eBay caters to large volume sellers. My theory is, the more I list, the more final value fees eBay get, so more free insertions would not only befefit me, but eBay too ?

I don't expect to get the free listings regularly .... it is merely that I haven't had a free insertion fee offer for quite a while and wondered whether others were getting them.

I think the store sellers should get more consideration too .... so I'm not complaining.

I don't know if you need to manually link them or if eBay detects they are owned by the same member and links them automatically. I only have this one account. Some of the others with multiple accounts could probably answer better than me. I just remember reading somewhere on here about accounts being linked up together (even though they are separate accounts in their own right).

My Sunday is great! I'm enjoying my 1 day off work outside (just took a break for a cuppa). Most of the day has been spent cutting the grass (big yard and despite having 2 sheep, they can't compete with the Spring weather and recent rain). I'm about to go and finish weeding my vege garden to hopefully start planting next weekend.
