PayPal Scam? Anyone else getting this one

This morning I have received an email to my PayPal email address claining that I need to update my card details on file or esle my account will be severly limited.

The from address is "service@paypal.com.au (soft-one@bigpond.com)" so that part looks very genuine.

The soft-one bit looks dodgy tho.

The subject is "Update your details for Paypal". Seems innocuous enough.

And of course a clickbal button named "Update Card". And when you hover the mouse over the button the link inside has nothing to do with PayPal of course. Something like "jsmrealestate".

I have been into my PayPal account and there is no such notification inside the account.

So methinks this is one of those phishing scams.

So anybody received this DO NOT click the button.

I will pass it back to PayPal for them to see.

The address in brackets reveals that paypal did not send you the email.

It has been sent via a bigpond email account, with that account likely to have been compromised by a scammer.

It is in no way genuine, paypal don't send emails via a bigpond email address, ever.

The same came to me 2 days ago - update your account in 48 hrs. Otherwise they will restrict my account.

The address soft-one@bigpond.com can see only if you click reply on that email:

Scam, scam, scam.

NEVER, EVER, EVER click on ANY email links, unless you want your account hacked or worse.

ALWAYS go to the official website and log in.

If there is anything you need to do, it will be advised to you via the Paypal or official website.

I have just noticed that I have been scammed since 2015 with Direct Debit 279234 PayPal Australia, I came to Australia in 2014, working hard for the money and someone has scammed me. I have been helping lot of people and communities with donations but never thought this could happen. I haven't been able to save much or buy a house yet and now I know why.

How is it possible to be scammed for 5 years and not notice?

Who is supposed to be receiving your money that is going to the scammer?

Why have they not come after you for the money?

There has to be more to the story than you are telling us?

Surely you would have followed up missing money before this?
