I'm sure someone who is better versed than myself will come along, but there was a thread a little while ago along these same lines. When I read it, I immediately went into damage control, (fearing the worst) and basically checked all my stock for Variation listings. In a nutshell, it seems that even when a Variation listing runs it's full course - in my case 30 days - regardless of what has been sold during the 30 days, if you Re-List it will do so using the original quantities - a right pain in behind !

I now re-list Variation listings individually so I take note of remaining stock when listing ended and then ensure (hopefully) I re-list the remaining quantities only. I had always assumed (oops, should know better than to assume !) when re-listing an ended listing it would relist remaining stock only - often wondered how/why I could not find items I had listed, but I do always try to keep back up stock to cover any lost in transits etc so have never actually been caught out thank goodness.

As I said, I'm sure someone will come along with a better explanation, particularly in regards the stock control side . . . . . . . . . .

Meanwhile, as they say, you learn something new everyday

I have had a multiple variation listing eg same top in 3 sizes

One of the sizes sold in October this year Size 12

I was horrified a couple of days ago to find when the item relisted it relisted with the Size 12 still available.

A Buyer purchased it....

I contacted Customer Support by email advising re their error as the listing should have stated Size 12 was OUT OF STOCK obviously As I still have the details re the sale in October!!!!

Ebay reply was that is was not a technical problem on their part and I should from now on watch my stock levels when they are getting low!!!! They said when an item relists as "Good Till Cancelled " nothing will change.

BUT IT DID.... maybe I did END the item with the Free listings offer... and then of course relisted . SHould this make a difference if the item had already sold and the listing then stated the Size 12 was not available. Does it revert to the original listing if you END a listing instead of just letting it click over ????

Has any other seller had this same problem as EBAY has been no help at all in telling me how this happened!!!

Of course I immediately Refunded the buyer and sent her an apologetic message. BUT I will also get a defect against my account that I know is not my fault.

Do other sellers when ending listings etc check when they relist that the number sizes etc are correct?

Hope someone can enlighten me thanks

My stock has always remained correct as long as they were GTC but if they end for any reason, for me that is every April, when I relist in November I had to do a stock take and re do the quantities as they reverted back to the original listing. It has always been like that for me. I now go into TL just before I shut up shop and alter the stock availability so that I can just upload if nothing else has changed.

Thanks for your help. I will have to now check all multi variation listings and check stock. I would have thought Ebay would have advised this somewhere expecially for sellers with Stores.

Anyway you live and learn!

thanks again
