should I cancel a purchase?

I have had a puchase from an international buyer. I am now very weary of the new policy from the 1st of November, if the buyer does not receive the item in time, or damaged that I have to refund the item and postage costs.

The postage costs for this item is nearly $100.

I would love to know what fellow ebays think?

What was the item Number ? If you cancel the transaction and the buyer doesn't agree to it, you will get a Defect for Christmas.

damned if you do, damned if you don't

if the seller cancels a transaction = defect

if item damaged or not as described = defect

Does the buyer realise that postage will be $100? Maybe he wishes to cancel the transaction = buyer changed mind = no defect.

This whole new policy sucks!

I have cancelled the order, which I have never had to do. It is so dissapointing. I sell vintage items, a lot of international buyer are interested in some of my items, such as Ghettoblasters or early laptops.

I posted a Ghettoblaster earlier this year to Russia, and postage cost $265.

It is way to risky now with the refund policy, which means, I have now lost potential buyers.

I have also done revised "bulk listing" and had to edit all of my listings to "no international postage"

For a lot of International buyers even before the policy changed in November proof of delivery was already required (and not just proof of postage) so there really hasn't been any changes there for a lot of International transactions.

If you are sending items overseas make sure you send using a trackable service and with sufficient insurance coverage in case the parcel goes astray.

If you're no longer offering international post make sure you also block buyers with overseas postage addresses.

My eBay > Account > Site Preferences > Buyer Requirements >

Buyers in locations to which I don't post

Block buyers whose primary postage address is in a location I don't post to.

Yogi Bear Game, shouldn't be too difficult to send OS. You accepted the Best Offer price, so you really should procede with the sale if the buyer is aware of the postage cost involved IMO. Lots of Padding around the Box, stop the Pieces from rattling around etc, Padded Bag for extra security. I really can't see a reason why not.

I have thought about it, and the buyer has excellent feed back, and I would love to post it. They bought it at the asking price, and did not put in an offer.

I would love to send this item, but I can't risk loosing a bit under $100 for postage incase of postage delays due to the Christmas period.

I'm also very tthorough in making sure my items are packaged well.

If I get my first negative feed back, I will just have to live with it.

Hi, this is one of the main reasons I powered down (closed) my 'Power Selling Account' as Feebays policys were making it harder to sell my collectables overseas and I could not reach potential buyers.I now only sell a few post only items (Australia only) and Pick-up only items (Melbourne only ) using Feebay, but without a Power Selling account.

As an alternative, the bulk of my listings are with another online site, which accomodates Collectable sellers very nicely, available worldwide, including Australia, with less commission and no commission on postage, and no Feebay 6 month get out of jail free card.My listing Policy clearly states to overseas buyers that full refunds are given, but the item must be returned with signature on delivery service at the buyers expense.Both outlets are now on 'Holiday mode' as the silly season is upon us and I take a back seat at this time, and holidays myself.

The fee on postage alone, when sending items overseas thru Feebay was the last straw, let alone the 6 month free money back return policy

My overseas listings state that the items are sent by signature required service on arrival for items up to 1 kg (registered post) , the larger items have tracking & signature (over 1 kg), this is non negotiable , and all buyers can check the postage before buying.Further more they are advised that any extra fees (customs/bio security etc are their responsibility).I never send any items by standard 'Airmail' anymore.

Unfortunately I had to bail out of Feebay.

It is my business who I sell to, where, and more importantly how, and I am not prepared to let Feebay dictate the terms of my business trading, to such an extent that it would have a detriment on sales and growth of my business.

I got off the old (Tug) boat Ebay and jumped on board the SS Betsy and have never been happier !

My business model could not accomodate Feebay as a primary provider for internet sales.

Yes, I'm on Betsy, and I am now looking at getting my own website. My rules, my own costs. That means I will charge exactly what it costs to send the item, and I can items I can sell at a cheaper price.

I am gainging followes by the day on ebay, so I am hoping they will follow me to a new website.

I love selling vintage items. I am learning on a daily basis. There are so Many Aussies who school me on items I really know nothing about. And people who have a lot of life experiences, from all different walks of life. I really love that part of my job!

The people I meet are great, and usually have similar values to myself. I don't want to stop selling vintage items, and I won't, I just have to make it work another way.

Good luck with your selling, as I'm all for Australian sellers, and Australian small and large busiess being successful.
