An option exists for you to 'Exclude P.O. boxes' when you create a listing... so it might be useful to use that in the future. I have a PO box as a primary address, and whenever I bid on an item with 'Exclude P.O. Box', I have to confirm that I'm able to get it sent to a street address. This would seem to be the simplest option to avoid confusion.

As for what to do now, I agree that the best thing to do is absorb the extra cost to avoid a defect.

In an effort to keep postage affordable, I use a courier. They do not deliver to PO boxes. All my listings have a note under the "Terms and Conditions" stating that if you have a PO box, please contact me before bidding so I can estimate using AusPost. So of course, I get a buyer who immediately pays using PayPal without waiting for invoice, and has a PO Box. It will cost me $4 more to send via AusPost satchel (on an $8 item. Have requested buyer send me a street address, but what do I do if not? She can claim she paid amount owing via PayPal and therefore shouldnt have to pay more, all because she didn't read the whole listing.

scottie, having read your listing, it does say ***If a Courier is used***. She has most likely not read it properly and just thought you were going to use Austpost. IMO only, I would most likely in this Scenario, just absorb the Cost and send it to her. That keeps her happy and will most likely leave you decent FB and no defects. ( Hopefully ) Otherwise, she may ark up and then Dump a Big Red Neg for you. Hope it all works out fine.

Agree with horizon, I would also read it and think it's not relevant because I am not using a courier.

Should read "I use couriers, they will NOT post to PO box" "If you only have PO Box, contact me etc.

Thanks to all of you for your replies. I have taken your rewording suggestions on board and am about to change some of my current listings to the new wording. Will also investigate the option of of excluding PO boxes.

However, if buyer had read the postage options, she would have clearly seen that this listing used a courier. She has not yet replied to my emails, so presume she will just ignore request to provide a street address. Sigh!

I think the others are right and you are going to have to post it off and absorb the loss.

Very annoying for you. Even if some buyers read the terms, they don't seem to care and bid anyway. My sister listed an item and her details said "Posts to Australia only' and some woman in NZ put in a bid then hit the roof when she found out the postage was dearer.
