4 day wait for delivery...fair or unreasonable?

My buyer bought my item on Sunday and opened a claim for "item not received" on Thursday, the day that I posted it. My ad did not mention any turn-around time. Is this fair or unreasonable?

Now she will not answer whether she received it or not...and PayPal has witheld the money until it is resolved.

First question: fair or unreasonable?

Second question: do you think I have been ripped off?

You have a 2 day handling time BUT unfortunately it sounds like you've encountered a nutter.

Simply respond to the Paypal dispute with the tracking number for the phone.

Did you post the $123.50 phone via registered post?

If so you can prove you posted the item and you are covered by PayPal seller protection. You just have to send the proof to PayPal. If not you have no proof you posted and if your buyer doen't receive the item PayPal will give the payment back to the buyer.

Did the buyer pay straight away on Sunday?

If so you are supposed to post on Tuesday not Thursday. Your listing states Will usually post within 2 business days of received cleared payment. So you are 2 days late for posting.

4 days wait for delivery is not unreasonable but 4 days wait for posting when seller states posting within 2 days in not reasonable.

Will usually post within 2 business days of receiving cleared payment.

just respond to the paypal claim with the tracking number, and go to the aust post website and check the tracking yourself on monday or tuesday to see if it has been received (Mon is a public holiday in some states)

The listing said "Will usually post within 2 business days of receiving cleared payment".

And it's because you chose 2 business days for the handling section when you listed the item.

You didn't write the sentence but you filled in handling section.

So if you aren't sure about posting time you should put a bit longer than 2 days next time.

You haven't mentioned the areas from and to for the item.

I have waited up to 10 days to receive items mailed from Perth to NSW.

If I read this correctly Crystal....the issue is the seller has stated 2 days handling time, not 4 days. If I was the buyer I would have an issue with that

After the item leaves the seller it really up to Australia Post for the actual delivery date. The seller does not have any control over this

You are responsible for your listings and if you decide not to fill in some sections then ebay will do it automatically.

Don't you use the preview option before listing the item?

If you did you would realise what you are actually stating and offering so please make use of the preview in future and read very carefully everything being offered so that you are aware of anything entered automatically by ebay.

I would probably also have an issue with that, but instead of opening an INR dispute, I would message the seller and ask when they posted the item.. In my eyes it's a bit unreasonable to open an INR dispute after 4 days

Regardless of whether 4 days was a long time to post, the buyer should still not have opened an item not received dispute after only four days. That's unreasonable.

Ebay and paypal need to change it so a dispute can only be opened after 7 days. It would be even better if they could only be opened 24 hours after contacting the seller.

IMO the dispute is a little over the top, but If I bought and paid for an item on Sunday I would expect it in my letter box by Thursday, the fact that it didnt get posted till Thursday and wouldnt arrive till Monday would leave me feeling very negative about the transaction.

I purchased goods from an online store in Sydney last Tuesday morning and it was delivered in Adelaide Friday lunch time and it weighed 6kg and was quite large.

It only took a parcel from the US 8 days from day of delivery.

i think i have been spoiled by good sellers, normally i pay instantly and the majority of sellers i have purchased from, have posted on the next available postage time.

so when i seller takes 4 days just to post the item, it does feel like they have taken an eternity considering that posting on thursday will take in the weekend and most likely a delivery on monday so that plus the 4 days to post equals 8 days from payment to get their item.

i do agree the buyer may have been a little hasty in opening a dispute, but is the buyer a new member, were they expecting to see a message appear that said the item had been sent ? i dont know.

not that i agree with it, but it does seem a little ironic that i have just read threads where sellers are complaining about buyers not paying straight away or atleast with in one or two days, and they are advised to open a non paying buyer dispute after 4 days.
