Have tried giving buyers the option of using a courier and did not get many takers ever thought they are cheaper.(we use Fastway for our business).Live in Northern NSW so pick up is not an option for most of my sales. Couriers will eventually take over all the most popular Australia Post deiveries places and A/P will be left with the remotest places as their costs keep rising.

Thanks to Ebay staff for reversing an unfair negative feedback. Item posted on time and buyer blamed me for taking too long to deliver. I have no control of Australia Post"s delivery schedules. They replied promptly to my emails and contacted the buyer who agree to change the feedback. juliejaffa74

Couriers are OK for large/heavy/expensive items but a bit pointless for sellers selling $10 items. It is definitely not cost effective.

As you seem to be an authority on couriers now, which companies would you recommend Joe?

well its ego a part of the hunters group but the best part of them they have 100s of depots in australia and if you have a depot close by you can just drop your parcel of which is cheaper instead of waiting all day for couriers to come to your place , you dont have to cart things into a post office i have a depot a few hundred meters up the road i pay online put the docket on the parcel drive into the depot they have cages there for you to put your parcel in and then drive straight out general price is $11.30 to most standard interstate suburbs up to 20kg also you can have it delivered to a depot and thats cheaper if the customer wants to save more

melbourne suburbs are usally $6.70 from a melbourne suburb everything is tracked i have sent maybe 100 odd parcels and only had 1 message from a buyer wanting to know about there parcel looked up tracking and it said could not find house so i asked the buyer is your house hard to find and hre said well its a 30 a type of address and the house is realy on another street anyway he told me the color of his fence and mailbox and i just wrote the info to the courier company and it was delivered next day i supose a lot of couriers do a good job i just like the drop off part and a few times if its to a remote location i send it to a depot as close by and the buyer goes and picks it up ..

Well I am glad you are happy with e-go in Melbourne. The are not well regarded in Sydney.

Same with Fastways......I avoid sellers who use them like the plague. They are terrible.

There are a few other companies that are not well regarded in the industry but I would not name them here.

If I pay for a courier I expect them to pick up and deliver to my door. If I wanted to go out to pick up my packages I would go to the local shops and see exactly what I am buying.

they do all that its only easier for me to drop them off and dont have to wait in line they get 100 out of 100 for me , if i have had a perfect record with them i will stick with them. plus couriers are better for multiple cartons only a few $ more .

beats trying to hold on to a $20kg parcel in line at a postoffice.

Beats going to a gym, surely.

The efficacy of a postage method is the BUYER'S convenience.

So unless your buyers have an e-go depot 100 metres down the road (unlikely given they are a broker and have NO depots) your proximity to a depot makes no difference to your buyer.

Have been using Fastway with our business for nearly 9years and have never had a problem with them. They will even return a parcel at no charge if the customers is not at that address or ring you to make sure it is the right address. (we have got that wrong sometimes). Australia Post do not pick up at your door, have sent back parcels because the customer has given you their street address and not theri PO box number. (this with a very large company in a country town. They would have know their box number off by heart. Fastway is cheaper and faster than Australia Post and they are always my first preference if the customer is in their delivery area.

My problem with the negative feedback was resolved by Ebay and I now am a 100% postive again.

I used to use ego quite a lot some time ago, sending longish tubes all over Australia, then suddenly ther prices more than tripled! I then changed to Interparcel - competitive rates, and door-to-door service with pretty quick times.

Unlike AP - bought a small package from Brisbane. Tracking stated 'received by AP 04/03/15'. I received it on 16/03/15, and tracking still showed 'received by AP 04/03/15', on 19/03/15! No updates, but delivered! Still took nearly two weeks for postage, though!

I also buy a fair bit from suppliers in both QLD and NSW - who both use Startrack, (AP-owned). Most deliveries are received witthin 48 hrs of dispatch.

However, I agree that couriers are just too expensive for many ebayers to use.
