Can you enlighten me as to what the problem is.

Your CPU is probably too slow to handle the program..

Hi , healthy processing even at 100% cpu power while executing a relative-to-system high resource task should not hang or halt but merely slow the processing of the task

Could be a excessive cpu/chipset heat issue , possibly caused by dust build up on the cpu heat sink

Excessive heat will slow/halt/crash your computer as it powers down to save itself

You might be able to monitor system temps by installing SpeedFan temp monitor and watch the temps rise as your project processes

http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

(click on the blue letter " SpeedFan " within the text)

If the cpu core temp is excessive like over 50 degress C

you can if careful open the box access panel and inspect the cpu heatsink and any case air inlet filters and remove dust using electrical stores bought canned air - after first shutting down and unplugging the computer and allowing to discharge for a few minutes in order to minimise static electricity damage in case you accidently touch a mainboard component or circuit

Clean the CPU heatsink, chipset heatsink and video card heat sink if required

Issue could also be caused by malware crashing the system as it tries to keep up with the data stream

Run a reputable anti-spyware program like malwarebytes and/or superantispyware or ad-aware and also a full system file scan using your anti-virus program
