The sytem I use, is to come up with a price I think the item is worth and one which I am willing to pay. . If the price goes over your max bid price, let it go. If the price is below your max bid then drop it on at the last few seconds. If you win it, then good. If he has auto snipe and he wins it then he is stuck with it and you have not paid over your willing price. It also stops you from bidding in a frenzy over your willing bid.

There seem to be sellers who always get top prices at their auctions. Makes you wonder if some pumping up goes on which is against the rules set by ebay

yes. some have multiple bids and good outcomes on every item. only bid at the last minute , and avoid those sellers you suspect of shill bidding.

Hey Grump, I bid like you do, except haven't bought anything for a while. I like to think I have a fighting chance, if I suspect shill bidding I just drop it like a hot potato.
