Well I got the new year off to a great start today after hubby suggested we go out for a look at a centre or two. Went to a new shop in Carlton and found a pair of Vande salt & papper shakers in the "pending ebay sales cabinet". When I asked about them they asked for an offer and the deal was done. Not a common find so I was happy.

Then down the road to the Southern Antiques Centre and a look in a cabinet and a heart stopping moment. Recognised the shapes as I have a couple and saw the price tag at $30 for vases...asked to have a look and both signed MCP O Arfaras. Whoo Hoo Round to the next stall and a Diana Art Ware vase made in the mid 40's the earliest pieces in a shape that I have never seen before...great price too. Another Diana vase for the glaze type, also cheap.

Then round the corner an unmarked Mexican and cart just waiting for me. They are Marie Gardner minus the stickers and the carts are a very rare find...so roll on 2013 coz I'm loving it.

The pics show all finds and I got my first ebay arrival today as well,

Hi Wilma,

I know it is rude to speak for others but I think nanny is tongue tied and while I am here I will tell you. She is coming to my house and no they are not for sale. She asked me if she could bring her camera and I said yes but I don't know what pics she will take.

If there is anything that you would like to see I am happy to post pics. What are you favourite potteries or what styles do you like?

Gotta admit that stings a little! My folks live smack bang between those two shops and that was most certainly my old stomping ground!

The Arfaras pieces are stunning and an absolute steal at that price.

Haven't taken pics of my latest finds yet but I picked up an Una Deerbon jug and a hand painted cup and saucer by Amelia Burrows.

Got my eye on a few Les Blakebrough pieces too but have gotta keep my fingers crossed they haven't been sold yet.

Great finds Pip. OH & I often go to the big one just for a coffee and a squizz. The food is yummy too. The Carlton one is owned by former 'tenants' of the Southern AC who set up their own place and ebay as well. Mostly high-end stuff but good for you making an offer.

Nanny, don't forget pics are compulsory. 😉

Planning on WP this Sunday too. 🙂

I do love it when someone mentions our Centre. Well of course it's not "our" Centre, we just have a small cabinet there. Glad you found some bargains. Just shows I never look at what else is for sale (we're not there very often, probably because we don't have to be, as we don't sell very much!)

Wish this was silver as it weighs almost one kilo,would have been a OMG moment.

Made of some sort of cast metal,no markings found,but a very nice candlestick in my opinion.
